Forum set for school zones proposals
Parents interested in voicing concerns or alternatives for rezoning are invited to a public input forum Jan. 12 at Foothill High School, 800 College Drive, beginning at 6 p.m.
The schools under consideration are Sue Morrow, C.T. Sewell and Robert Taylor elementary schools, and Coronado, Foothill, Green Valley, Liberty and Silverado high schools.
More information can be found at azac.ccsd.net or by calling 799-6435.
Students get a close look at Legislature
Nevada teenagers have the opportunity to shadow state senators and assemblymen for one day in March.
The event is scheduled for March 1-2, and anyone 13-19 years old interested in 4-H Capital Days must register by Jan. 9 at any 4-H office.
There is a $519 registration fee, which includes airfare, transportation, lodging, food, activities and a tour.
For more information, contact the Cooperative Extension 4-H office at 222-3130.
Church grants to help band members
Green Valley United Methodist Church donated money toward travel expenses for three of its members to travel with the Green Valley High School marching band to perform in the Inaugural Parade on Jan. 20.
Alex Ulibarri, Julie Greenleaf and Keven Greenleaf received scholarships of $800 apiece to make the trip.
The marching band is the only band from Nevada invited to perform for the parade during the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama.
The band is still raising the $120,000 needed to send its members to Washington, D.C., for the performance. To make a donation, go to www.GreenValleyHS.org and follow the links to the donation site.
