Police targeting North Las Vegas for traffic enforcement
Wed, Jan 7, 2009 (12:46 p.m.)
The North Las Vegas Police Department's traffic unit will join forces with Clark County officers today to strictly enforce speeding laws and reduce aggressive driving.
A secondary emphasis will focus on seat belt use and child safety seat violations.
More than 25 officers with seven different agencies hit the streets of North Las Vegas from an area on Craig Road from Decatur to Lamb boulevards to Lake Mead Boulevard from Rancho Drive to Pecos Road.
The Decatur area was the focus of traffic officers from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. and the Lake Mead Boulevard area is under scrutiny from noon to 4 p.m.
Aggressive driving causes traffic accidents that often result in serious injury of deaths. The traffic unit uses these special enforcements to reduce collisions in these high traffic areas.
Speeders and aggressive drivers can face fines from $60 for a seat belt violation up to $1,130 for aggressive driving.
