Letter to the editor:
Be wary of Obama’s lack of experience
Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009 | 2:04 a.m.
The president-elect’s nomination of Leon Panetta to be director of the CIA is receiving bipartisan scrutiny because of Panetta’s complete lack of experience in this crucial position in this post-9/11 environment.
I think the public should be a bit more concerned about having a president-elect with absolutely no experience than worried about the CIA nominee.

Whenever someone tells me to be wary of 'inexperience' I have to point where 'experience' has gotten us. I'm willing to take my chances with the 'inexperienced' for awhile.
" I'm willing to take my chances with the 'inexperienced' for awhile."
Words of "wisdom" from the mighty left.......our enemies must be laughing their heads off and looking forward for goods times on easy street.
Remember when 911? When "W" was told what had happen while reading to the kids, the look of experience was all over his face. Yes sir, the last eight years of experience has served us well!
The Clinton years were excellent 8 years too.
Let's see.....
Buildup of a terrorist army in Afghanistan.
Failure to kill or capture Bin Laden several times when it was much easiler to do so.
Terrorist entered into the USA and took flight lessons.
Yes sir, the Clinton's years served us well!!!
Just a FYI, no terrorist attack on US since 2001.
"...no terrorist attack on US since 2001."
Way wrong. No terrorist attacks on US soil since 2001. There have been many more terrorist attacks on US citizens, however, since 2001.
Also, Bush is not forgiven because of what you think of Clinton. He's been horrific in his own right. Nobody else's record matters.
Thanks for correcting me johnvegas. I meant to say no attack on US soil since 2001.
I never said to forgive Bush. I am just saying that Clinton failed grealy too.
And, yes, Clinton adminstration had a significant part to do with 9/11 and finanical mess that we have now.
Obviously, Bush had a big role in the finanical mess ,too.
"I meant to say no attack on US soil since 2001."
I figured. Though the current Detroit Lions may qualify as a terrorist act on the people in that city.
During the campaign Obama said he wouldn't need OJT because he had Biden, who according to the talking heads, has plenty of foreign relations experience.
I have a question, since it's been a couple of months since the election has been decided.....This is the best they could do??!!
When Obama stated CHANGE, this is what he meant??
Let's forget all the other appointments he has made and focus on this for a moment. When he was thinking about a director of the CIA, did he think he was appointing the director of the YMCA.
Now I know this is going to be unpopular with some of the posters here, but shouldn't we get someone for the job that actually knows where the headquarters for the building is.
Add to this the botched appointment of Gov. Richards and his mis-steps on the Burris issue, man am I glad we are getting change.
I was worried that it was going to be politics as usual........... this is highly unusual and not to mention change that is unbelieveable.
We are getting chump change.
"Let's forget all the other appointments he has made and focus on this for a moment..."
You mean not focus on all the great appointments and concentrate on the not so great stuff instead?
It's like a feeding frenzy with you righties. It's almost as if you can't wait to castigate the guy. As if you are looking forward to anything negative at all like it was dessert.
And Burris? You are blaming Obama for that? Great. He didn't take out my trash either.
When Nance says "We are getting chump change", he's right. We are changing out the chump who is in the Whitehouse now. Obama will be so much better than Bush. But then again, so would my golden retriever.
He appointed a guy who was under Federal investigation.
Waz up with that?
I think he learned a very important lesson. He should call up the DailyKos before doing anything. Opps....you do not like that CIA guy....OK....how about this this political hack from the Clinton days.....outstanding leadership at work
When I was referring to Burris I was referring to Obamas fence sitting and back-peddling.
That is what we have to look forward to for the next four years. Indecision at its best.
Love or HATE Bush, at least he made a decision.
"Waz up with that?"
Same reaction here. My guess is Mr. New Mexico was not as up front as he might have been. But okay, vetting should have caught that anyway. Disappointing.
Leon too, although I'm trying to look past the rhetoric there. Lets face it, Bush had a lawyer interpreting data at the Pentagon, so I'm not going to judge only on experience or lack thereof.
"Love or HATE Bush, at least he made a decision."
Neither love nor hate for me. Ambivalent is closer at this point.
As far as "at least he made a decision", uh, wow, I don't know where to begin. Let's just say that's pretty close to how a three year old works. He may have painted the dog and put gum in his hair, but at least he made a decision.
You do know that Leon was not his first choice for CIA director.
Obama demostrated a lack of leadership and redo his choice because he back down to pressure from the crazy left.
I guess he has no backbone.
"You do know that Leon was not his first choice for CIA director."
No, I didn't. Don't follow politics daily. It makes me sick.
"I guess he has no backbone."
That's your summary from "a" poor choice? Surely you overlook his record so far. Or try running for office when people want to kill you.
Besides, people with no backbone don't have terrorists for friends. :)
