Veterans Home to present nutrition lessons

The Nevada State Veterans Home will hold once-a-week nutrition talks throughout March, which is National Nutrition Month. The community is invited, and admission is a can of food for Emergency Aid of Boulder City.

Every Wednesday at 2 p.m., dietitian Andrea Grondwalksi and the home's contracted food service company will speak about eating well.

On March 5, the topic is the Mediterranean Diet, which is high in fish and olive oil and non-saturated fats. Food samples will be available, she said.

On March 12, Grondwalski will present about food label reading, and on March 19 she'll talk about physical activity. On March 26 the subject will be recipe modification, she said.

Then on March 18, Grondwalksi will visit Grace Christian Academy to teach the students about the food guide pyramid through nutrition-related games and prizes.
