Casino robbery

Metro Police are asking for the public's help in finding a man who robbed another man of his wallet inside a casino bathroom.

The man followed the casino customer, who was over 60 years of age, into a bathroom of a casino in the 4000 block of West Flamingo Road off the Las Vegas Strip, police said. Authorities declined to identify the casino.

Once in the restroom, the man knocked the victim to the ground and continued to punch and kick the victim, police said. He then took the victim's wallet and fled out of the casino in an unknown direction.

Metro detectives recovered the man's wallet, but the cash was missing, police said. No weapon was seen during the crime, police said.

Since the victim was in his 60s, police said they will enhance the robber's charges.

The man spoke an unknown language that wasn't English, police said.

The robber was described as 5-foot-8-inches tall with a shaved head and stubble on his face. He was last seen wearing a tank jacket, dark pants and white tennis shoes.

Anyone with information about the man is asked to call the Metro Police Robbery Section at (702) 828-3591, or to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.

  1. Name the casino and shame them into providing security. This is appalling. I bet it was the sleazy Palms...

  2. Judging by the map, it has to be the Gold Coast as the carpet and escalator look like the entrance from the parking garage. Coast Casinos probably paid not to have their casinos in the media again, after the murder in broad daylight at the SunCoast.

  3. Metro protecting the casinos? Imagine that.

Stay out of Coast casinos obviously they have a serious security problem.

  4. This is exactly what I wrote to the LVCA about. The security on the strip and out lying casinos is a joke! Most of their security guards are old, and don't pay attention. In the Venitian, we had a young man hasseling a friend of mine for a cigarrette. 2 security people were standing right there, and ignoring the situation until I spoke up and told them to do something. This is unacceptable! Just a few months ago, someone walked right into the Freemont and robbed it. Walked out, got into a cab, and got away! And all on tape.....Unbelievable! Las Vegas needs to get a grip on this crap, clean up the streets and the casinos or we will see more tourist and convention decline.

  5. Metro protecting the thieving casinos.Expose this toilet so the rest of us can avoid it. Why would any self respecting group suject their conventions to this enviornment?

  6. You're not suggesting they put security camera's in the restrooms now are you? Well I guess they could put them everywhere but in the stalls but even then the surveillance video might pick up some stuff they shouldn't.

  7. No, we are not advocating security cameras in the bathrooms. We are advocating more security presence on the floor so when security is called for an emergency, it doesn't take 10 minutes for one to arrive.

  8. But if the guy is cold-cocked and knocked out it wouldn't matter how close security was - the perp. would still be long gone before security was even aware that something happened - unless they happened to be taking a potty break that is.

  9. People are never satisfied - too much security walking around and people will complain that the place is 'crawling with security guards all over the place'. Not enough security walking around and people will complain about just that - 'no security around'. How does one go about accomplishing a happy medium that will please all the people all the time - it just can't be done.

  10. Bring the Mob back, you can bet this crap wouldn't happen unless they were getting a cut. :)

  11. "the man spoke an unknown language police said" was it MARTIAN ? GOOD GRIEF !!

  12. Thugs are less likely to initiate a crime if security were lurking nearby. I have never heard anyone complain about too much security in the casinos. It has gotten to the point that if you hit a big jackpot, your first consideration is your safety.

  13. When a female friend of mine got mugged by two black men in the bellagio garage and had her purse stolen, the responding metro officers said it happens every night in a parking garage somewhere in town. A lot of security cameras on the money, none to help protect the people that spend it. A reason I suggest everyone use valet service when parking at any casino, strip club, mall or restaurant. Much less likely to be attacked leaving a place if you are standing by the front door.

There is also a particularly disturbing case presently making it's way through the Civil Court System where Treasures Strip Club was the scene of a near deadly attack by 4 men who brutally beat a single male patron, twice within a 10 minute period. Particularly disturbing because with every inch of Treasures covered by video cameras no footage of the perpetrators or the attack has been made available to the victim or media and no charges have been filed in the case. Councilman Wolfson submitted statements on behalf of the only two identified attackers to Metro and the DA decided not to pursue charges or the other 2 attackers' identities. Thank you councilman Wolfson for helping creatures like this continue to prey on your citizens and visitors alike.

  14. This might have been avoided had the casino bathroom had an attendant inside? Lesson to be learned, watch your back, and don't go into any empty bathroom alone. That's why I keep Mr. Colt nearby!

  15. This can happen anywhere, anytime.

However, what I find reprehensible is how it's official policy to protect the casinos of Nevada. It's all about the casinos, not the people. They don't pay their fair share of taxes and they're always shielded from bad press.

  16. Another good reason to carry your Glock everywhere, especially on the strip. Someone should have ended the robber's life.

  17. Boftx, you must have lived in vegas for a long time. I remember when the mob owned vegas, it was clean, there were no roberies, no drug deals the hookers were clean and beautiful, you could walk the strip at 2 am without wondering if you were gonna get mugged. it was great.
I am willing to bet steve wynn's salary that if that 60 year old man would have pulled out his legally registered colt, and shot the mugger he would have been arrested.

  18. NAME THE CASINO PEOPLE WHO ROB PEOPLE SHOULD BE PUT TO DEATH A 60 YR OLD MAN GIVING MONEY TO YOUR ECONOMY AND THIS POOR OLD GUY GETS MUGGED AND BEAT UP BY A BLACK THUGG . NAME THE CASINO STOP COVERING UP THE 1ST THING CASINO'S CUT BACK ON IS SECURITY KEEP LETTING PEOPLE GET MUGGED AND THE CITY WILL BE LIKE ATLANTIC CITY RUN BY THUGS N DRUGS GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT ""THE TOURIST WHO BRING IN BILLIONS WITHOUT THEM YOUR IRAQ" A DRY DESSERT SHAME ON WHATEVER CASINO THIS IS THAT DOESN'T HAVE SECURITY AT 4 O'CLOCK IN THE AFTERNOON
