Ambulance accident

A paramedic suffered a broken leg this morning as she returned to an ambulance that was rear-ended by a vehicle near Rainbow Boulevard and Spring Valley Parkway, Metro Police said.

The driver of the blue Camaro suffered minor injuries during the 5:13 a.m. incident and was taken to University Medical Center. The 41-year-old man is being booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of felony driving under the influence of drugs, Metro Police Lt. L. Chavez said.

The paramedic had parked near the intersection to aid another motorist and was climbing into the passenger's side of the ambulance when the Camaro car crashed into the ambulance, Chavez said.

The paramedic was taken to University Medical Center for treatment of her broken leg and is expected to be release later today, Chavez said.

Identities of the paramedic and the Camaro driver haven't been released, Chavez said.
