Scholarship, aid info available at workshop

High school seniors and their parents can learn more about the college financial aid and scholarship process at a workshop Feb. 18.

The event runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Texas Station's Dallas Ballroom.

School to host wine tasting auction

Solomon Schecter Day School will honor the memory of D'Vorre and Hal Ober on Feb. 21 at its annual event, The White Russian Wine Tasting and Auction Experience.

The event, sponsored by Southern Wine and Spirits Inc., will begin at 7 p.m. at Temple Beth Sholom, 10700 Havenwood Lane, near Town Center Drive and Desert Inn Road.

Tickets are $50 per person and may be purchased in advance or at the door. Proceeds from the event will go to the Sidney Chaplin Scholarship Fund.

NV Energy scholarships

NV Energy offers two Powerful Partnership scholarships for each Clark County high school along with one for the home schooled. One-time scholarships of $1,000 are awarded based on the program's selection criteria and on the number of applications received. The scholarship may be used at any accredited university, college or trade school. Seniors both in public and private schools as well as the home schooled are encouraged to apply.

The scholarship recognizes the accomplishments of local high school students who have demonstrated leadership in academics and community service.
