Man killed while running across Sahara Ave. identified

Fatal crash

The pedestrian who was killed Monday night after he ran in front of a pickup truck in the eastern Las Vegas Valley has been identified as 32-year-old Marcus Delon Harris of Las Vegas, the Clark County Coroner's Office said today.

The cause of death was blunt force trauma from a motor vehicle striking the pedestrian and it was ruled accidental, a coroner's office spokeswoman said.

Police arrived at 7:36 p.m. Monday to the crash at East Sahara Avenue west of South 17th Street. Officers said a 1998 GMC pickup truck traveling west on Sahara in the center lane struck the pedestrian when the man ran across Sahara in front of the truck from the south to the north curb.

The driver of the truck, identified by police as Cesar Reyes, 49, of Las Vegas, tried to avoid the collision, police said. Reyes wasn't injured. Harris died at the scene.

This is the sixth traffic-related fatal accident in Metro Police jurisdiction this year.
