Despite rushing for 1,644 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2008, Valley High's Kerwyn Williams was overlooked by Division I programs because of his 5-foot-7 frame.
Not anymore.
Williams was offered a scholarship by Utah State late Wednesday night and will more than likely sign with the school on Monday, Valley coach John Elwell said. The national signing period, which started Wednesday, ends on April 1.
"It's not 100 percent, but it is most likely," Elwell said.
Williams, a first-team All-Sunrise Region selection, is still being heavily recruited by South Dakota State.
Elwell said a scholarship opened at Utah State after some of its recruits failed to qualify academically or signed with other schools.
Williams is expected to sign Monday at Valley.
