Murder-suicide

A man distraught over divorce proceedings went to his wife's parents' home in eastern Las Vegas Thursday night and shot his wife, then fatally wounded the woman's father before turning the gun on himself, Metro Police said.

Police identified the gunman as 42-year-old Ricky Shadoan.

Police responded to gunshots at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the 4700 block of Del Sueno Drive near Hacienda Avenue and Mountain Vista Street.

Homicide detectives said Shadoan had come to the home after he had been served divorce papers earlier in the day.

Shadoan and his wife began arguing at the side of the residence. He drew a gun and shot her in the chest, police said. After being shot, she fled to the rear of the home, where her father pulled her inside, police said.

Shadoan entered the house and continued to fire and struck his wife's father in the chest, killing him, police said.

Shadoan then chased his wife and shot her at least four more times before eventually turning the gun on himself, police said. His wife was able to flee to a neighbor's residence, where the police were called.

The woman was taken to Sunrise Hospital, police said. Officers said she is expected to survive.

Both Shadoan and his wife's father were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The family has two children who were inside the home at the time of the shootings. The children were not injured, police said.
