Couple’s love doesn’t diminish with age

Boulder City Valentines

Bob and Kati Bailey, who now live at the Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City, have been in love for almost 40 years.

He's 82 and she's 73, but he still calls her "baby."

Bob and Kati Bailey are just as in love nearly 40 years after they met, and do everything together at the Nevada State Veterans Home.

The two met in California about 1971 at a little league baseball game. One of his five kids and one of her four played, he said.

He was president, and she became the secretary. That started a deeper relationship that grew, and about a year later, they wed in his church.

"He was a good-looking guy," Kati Bailey said. "I got him to hurry up."

They raised their nine children together at a time when "The Brady Bunch" was growing up on TV. Their children moved on, and they retired.

The Baileys came to Nevada about a year ago to be closer to one of their daughters, and now live at the Veterans Home together.

They said they'll be each others valentine at the Veterans Home party Feb. 14.

Friends and family of veterans home residents are invited to join in the new dining room at 2 p.m. for the party.

Residents will cast ballots for the King and Queen of the Valentines Ball, who will be honored at the beginning of the celebration.

The band Sentimental Journey will provide entertainment.
