LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
‘Yes, Virginia’ editorial’s author deserves credit
Monday, Dec. 28, 2009 | 2:01 a.m.
The Las Vegas Sun’s reprint of the famous “Yes, Virginia ...” editorial in the Christmas Eve edition unfortunately left out one very important element: Who wrote it?
In 1897, Virginia O’Hanlon’s request for the truth about Santa Claus came to the desk of reporter and editor Francis Church, who’d covered the Civil War for The New York Times, and who was a 20-year veteran of The Sun, a New York newspaper.
His answer to Virginia in The Sun stands as one of the most famous editorials ever written. Although it’s understood that newspaper editorials aren’t usually signed, as was the case with the “Yes, Virginia” editorial, I think Francis Church should certainly be given credit in any reprint.

James- Thanks for pointing this out. I'm sure there are some readers who have never heard of the original editorial.
What original editorial???
LarryVegas; I realize "Going Rouge" was your first book but please turn off Glen Beck and delve into the real world.
Oh, Das Schlegel, I forgot that you wanted to read "Going Rogue" after I was finished with it.
What soup kitchen do you frequent and I will drop it off for you...
That would be the Sister Sarah Soup Center at the Wasilla Meth Rehab clinic.
I'm beginning to wish the Sun would turn off the reader comments section. It is becoming a message board for too many people where they just exchange insults rather than add to any kind of intellectual discourse about the article to which they are "responding."
