Sandy Valley death
A Sandy Valley man was arrested Sunday for shooting and killing his cousin outside his home.
Kenny Ray Turner, 59, 655 Cherokee Street, is being held on a murder charge in connection with the death of his cousin, who had been living with him for the past month, according to Las Vegas Metro police said.
Turner told police that his cousin, Byron Richards, had gone to a nearby bar earlier in the evening, around 5 p.m. Sunday. When Richards returned around midnight, Turner told his cousin he couldn’t stay with him anymore, police said.
Turner told police that Richards then became upset, got into his car, and sped away, driving to the end of the street, then returning.
When Richards came back, Turner said he went outside with a .40 caliber handgun in his left hand.
Turner told police his cousin came through the gate, which was held together with rope, and began yelling and waving his arms. Turner told police that Richards pushed him on his right shoulder and the gun went off.
Richards allegedly fell to the ground, and began yelling “you shot me.” Turner then called police at 12:05 a.m., according to an arrest report.
Paramedics arrived and transported Richards to UMC. He died as a result of his injuries, police said.
Turner is being held on charges of murder with a deadly weapon and being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm.

Kenny Ray and his cousin had a misunderstanding. Ended up bad. Hope all the kids and their mothers are OK.
sandy valley?
sounds like my last girlfriend.
What an alibi, the gun went off!
Are these hillbillies originally from Arkansas?
Are they Harry Reid's fifth cousins?
Amazing how all these so called "gun control" laws which make it hard for honest citizens to legally obtain guns has no effect whatsoever in stopping ex-felons from getting them. Maybe they ought to just abolish all gun control laws so more law abiding citizens can easily get them to defend themselves from the ex-felons who have them anyway!
Note to mikegino: Arkansas is a Republican state.
I agree, current gun control laws are a joke, what's needed is to ban them altogether.
If there were no legally owned stockpiles of firearms in people's homes, criminals would not be able to get hold of them, it's a no brainer really.
The only sensible gun ownership is no ownership.
When that hick went out of his front door with a gun in his hand a death was going to happen.
You cannot defend yourself with a gun, it does not stop bullets coming your way.
A gun will sure as Hell stop someone who breaks into my home from coming my way. Of course, there will be a lot of repainting afterwards.
Over my cold dead body, before I give up my right to bear arms...
Thats right blame it on the gun! Thousands of people each year have been saved by having the ability and means of defending themselves and their families. If you prefer to be a victim or sheep as we call them versus a survivor then wait for the police to arrive while you and your loved ones are being slaughtered. If you dont believe in the 2nd ammendment then please move to Mexico or England where they will just kill you with a knife, blundt object or their own hands or in the case of Mexico a fully automatic rifle. And oh yeah they do have gun control in both those places so just lie down and take it, Sheep.
Where is common sense? The convicted felon should have stayed in his house, locked the doors and called the police! The killer new the victom had been drinking after the first conversation took place. Kenny Ray Turner (felon) had an oppertunity to do the right thing and did NOT! He made a concsious choice to use a weapon when he probably did not need to; after all it's not like the victom broke into to the house, or even had a weapon to protect himself.
