LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

We have no time to waste in war on terrorism

Bob Jack’s letter in Saturday’s Sun, headlined “Like it or not, U.S. is in danger and war is necessary,” was right on.

We made the same mistake in the late 1930s by sitting idly by while Hitler waged war on all his European neighbors while we waited, thinking it wasn’t in our interest to get involved. Then the attack on Pearl Harbor woke us up and we were forced into a war on two fronts.

On 9/11, we had another Pearl Harbor. The death toll was similar. Only this time, we didn’t follow through. Why?

The entire free world must organize and respond like we did during World War II. The U.S. needs to be the leader in doing so.

First we reintroduce the draft. Then, together with our allies, form a large circle around all the countries where al-Qaida’s headquarters are known to be hiding, then slowly close in on them. You don’t do it by telling them what we will do next or when we plan on pulling out our troops. Like John McCain said, they will just hide in the bushes until we leave, then come back again.

When are we going to wake up? How many more bombings and attacks is it going to take? Our enemy is in no hurry. Meanwhile, they are recruiting in countries around the world.
