A trial date has been set for two teens accused in the slaying of a Las Vegas couple at an eastern valley mobile home park.

Victor Veliz and Timothy Chester, both 18, are accused of killing Chester’s parents, Thomas and Carla Chester, on Sept. 30. The two pleaded not guilty in district court on Dec. 2. A trial date was set today for Dec. 6, 2010.

Both are charged with two counts of first-degree murder, conspiracy, robbery and burglary.

The two could face the death penalty but a decision hasn’t been made as to whether prosecutors will pursue it.

Veliz was arrested Sept. 30 at his home. Timothy Chester was arrested Oct. 1 after he aroused suspicion by walking along U.S. 93 near the Hoover Dam.

Records indicate that on Sept. 30, Timothy Chester and Veliz finalized the plan to kill Thomas and Carla Chester as they walked from Veliz’s home to the Chester residence.

According to Veliz’s statements to police, Timothy Chester told Veliz he was upset with his parents and wanted to kill them.

Thomas Chester was shot to death and Carla Chester died from stab wounds and blunt force trauma injuries. A knife was protruding from her neck when her body was found, police said.

Authorities said Timothy Chester’s plan had been to kill his entire family, including his sister and brother-in-law.

The two teens are being held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center.
