Traffic crash
A 21-year-old man was critically injured this morning after his car went through a red traffic signal and struck a pickup truck in a west Las Vegas Valley intersection.
Metro Police responded at 7:48 a.m. to the crash at the intersection of West Sahara Avenue and Grand Canyon Drive. Police said a 1990 Acura was westbound on Sahara and failed to stop for a red light.
The Acura collided with the left-front of a 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck that was southbound on Grand Canyon traveling through the intersection on a green light, police said.
The Acura then struck a light pole, causing it to fall over. The driver, Rudi Cortez-Hernandez, of Las Vegas, was extracted from the vehicle by Las Vegas Fire & Rescue and taken to University Medical Center's trauma unit with critical injuries, police said.
The driver of the pickup truck, Scott Kelleher, 40, of Las Vegas, suffered minor injuries, police said.

Umm... am I reading this right? It says the Acura AND pickup truck failed to stop at the red light. Kind of confused here.
You are reading it right. They first reference the pickup as running the red and then say the Acura ran the red light while the pickup was on a green light.
And the hits just keep on coming..
Inaccurate reporting from a liberal newspaper... AGAIN!
They failed to say that the driver of the Acura was street racing and drunk! He was read his rights at the hospital. The other street racer left the scene. Anyone with info please call crime stoppers.
The person that tried to write this article should be fired (No unemployment check)immediately for incompetence.
Acura fail to stop good thing the man in the truck was okay.
