Amanda Werber appears before District Judge Kevin Williams on Tuesday, Aug. 18 with Deputy Public Defender Les Paredes.

A 28-year-old mother who was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence after a crash that injured two people pleaded guilty today to lesser charges.

Amanda Werber of Henderson pleaded guilty to reckless driving resulting in bodily harm and child endangerment. Her 18-month-old child was in the 2006 Pontiac when it crashed into a 1986 Pontiac Feb. 1 on U.S. 93 near the U.S. 95 interchange, according to court records.

She is scheduled to be sentenced at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 18 before District Judge Elissa Cadish. The charges carry a possible penalty of two to eight years in prison with fines of up to $7,000.

According to police, Werber was driving 100 mph about 8 p.m. Feb. 1 on U.S. 93 north when she rear-ended a car driven by Louis Ray, 41. He and his 24-year-old passenger were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

Neither Werber nor the child was injured.

“I’m sorry that it happened,” Werber said after pleading guilty before District Judge Kevin Williams. She said the child has remained with her.
