A man was taken into custody and booked into jail for murder after a deadly fight early this morning on East Sahara Avenue, Metro Police said.
At 3:33 a.m., officers responded to a report of a fight involving several people at the Village Square Commercial Center, 953 E. Sahara Ave., according to Sgt. Steve Naegele. Officers arrived at the scene and found a 22-year-old man with stab wounds in the parking lot. He was taken to Sunrise Hospital, where he later died, police said.
Security officers chased the suspect and took him into custody. He is identified as 24-year-old Edgar Magana. Magana was taken to the Clark County Detention Center and booked for murder with a deadly weapon, according to the report.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending identification and notification of family.
Anyone with information about this incident can call Metro at 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.

Lotus of Siam is not open at 3:30 AM, nor have I ever seen any security there, probably because they don't need it. Lotus is nice Thai restaurant, a safe place to eat and serves some of the best Thai food in North America.
There are several bars, clubs and pool halls in the Commercial Center, It's probably safe to assume that the fight started there. Mr. Peterson you should be careful about what you say about local businesses.

And....like so many others in Las Vegas, getting a job here isn't that easy. I am way over qualified for the positions I have interviewed for and most firms are intimidated by my experience in my chosen field - law. Therefore, that is why I am leaving Las Vegas. Hell, maybe I'll just retire. Then I can live off of YOUR tax dollars for the rest of my life!!! I'll think of you every time I take a nice Caribbean vacation twice a year.

People aren't taking this into a racist way, so if you want to counter someone read it carefully. They're implying "illegals," some might imply to all, but they're talking about the ones that do not follow the law and break it like it was their country.
Also, everyone knows it happened near Las Palmas, because that's where all the drunk people are, a lot of them happen to be "UNDERAGE" which is illegal in that part too.
It is spelled Lotus of Siam, don't bad mouth a local business that wasn't apart of it. They were just saying that it could not happen at that place because it was at 3:33am.
These people are not being racist, they're being realistic and pulling statistics that have happened in the past. Just because it happened to be a Hispanic fight, people are going to jump on the bandwagon and follow the stereotypes (sometimes). If you see an Asian, some people would jump on the stereotype of a loner, and bring up past horrible issues of theirs (Virginia Tech), if you see a bald Caucasian some automatically think they're the KKK. It goes ALL races, not just yours; it just so happened that you checked this and it shows today. Go through all the pages and see other people's crimes, other races, you'll see a blog filled with them.
Sorry for your loss and pain. Let's just all pray that this Edgar guy receives life, cause the death penalty is too easy.

Actually, yes. There was a shooting a while back, but I'm surprised that even since then people would forget about it. Back then, it wasn't just the Hispanics, it was a few other races involved because of the Korean Club and Mary K's. But, it actually has lowered it's craziness over the past few years. It wasn't like before and thanks to the Security that the Association has paid for it has become a lot safer.

Here to speak Facts. I work with Edgar. He is a native, NOT an illegal. Lets be done with that topic. It has absolutely no bearing here whatsoever. He is not affiliated with a gang. Formerly? Yes. He was on the straight and narrow, turning his life around. M-F, he was at work, everyday, earlier than 97% of the people we work with. I sat near him and joked with him daily. He was always in a good mood and being a jokester. Office banter (AKA, Ballbusting) occured daily, and he was always there laughing with us. No sign at all of any anger. However, I was supposed to hang with him that night, but instead chose not to and had no contact with him since work Saturday afternoon. I do know that he was scared for his life, because if he wasnt, he would have been able to handle the situation in another way. I know this from hanging out with him on the weekends and seeing how he reacts to situations that arise and is proactive to normally difuse them. The whole truth will come out. All the other posts above are just DRIVEL. Stop the ignorance about race and citizenship. Some of you need to check your spelling too. lol.
In any event, sorry to Diego's family for their loss. Sorry to Edgar and his family for their loss as well. Like someone said earlier, no one wins.

Diego will be dearly missed and forever loved by all who knew him. He was a great friend, father, and son. He never deserved to be gone so soon. I hope this Edgar person gets what he deserves in prison. My prayers are with Diego's family and all of us, his friends. Heaven was missing an angel and thats why God chose to take you. We will always love you Diego and save a spot for us up there in heaven. Gone but never forgetten!

you friend had all the time in the world to walkaway. your friend was waiting for him outside already knowing in him that he was going to use his knife(not just any knife,they said it was huge)to kill my friend. my friend had no chance what so ever to survive the attack. he was stabbed in the stomach,the chest and the back of the head.please he intended to kill him by all means.so your friend was not on a great recovery road.he could have walked away.no one even got to hit anyone for that matter it was all so quick (the stabbing i mean)i just hope that he gets what he deserves...

I don't condone violence, fighting, or even name calling, it is all barbaric to me, not that I won't defend myself or my loved ones. I will point out, in this instance; there are a lot of armchair-adjudicators. Everyone is speculating about the 5-W's, there are even people making assertions, there is yet to be a trial, there are many facts yet to be revealed, and most importantly, who stated the whole mess to begin with.
There are many cases where the person who was defending themself, get jail time, or even when a person who tries to break-up a fight may get the short end of the deal. After-hours, rampages, brawls, you name it, happen in a "New York minute" and are not pretty, they are very ugly affairs to say the least, it isn't even what it seems to be, to the on-lookers, or the people who are involved in the altercation, once alcohol is involved. The folks standing around inciting the fight are just a culpable and they too are not even in control of their own faculties. These situations are the spark, to the on-set of a mealy, in most cases, and at other times, these out breaks become a coordinated destruction of public or private property.
There is a list of individuals who are at the root of this, not just the matador, let the investigation and trial reveal facts before everyone claims their partner to be innocent.

I would like to say that Diego was a great fun, loving person, He didn't deserve to die. He will be greatly missed It sucks that young people turn to violence as the solution to there problems. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I didnt know either of them, I do know that they were both trouble; at least that night they were. It was a big fight, lots of people were involved,it started inside a night club & ended outside in the parking lot, I was there after everything had came down to the stabbing of this person by the name of Diego, It was very sad seen him lay on the floor fighting for his life, surrounded by his friends who @ that time were in handcuffs screaming his name out telling him to get up...who knows maybe this MAGANA acted in self defense; we dont know what truly happened, its sad that it had to come down to this sad ending, no one wins here, both familes have lost a loved one, VERY SAD!
There is no sense in making this a race issue; we are all Humans and should be treated equal regardless of what country were from, this should not be happening.

This is not a racial problem, there are north-american that are worse than any hispanic. The problem here is that this was a back stabbed murder without cause, Diego left a little girl behind and his mother heart shattered, he came from a really great family, and he was in the wrong place and the wrong time. I hope the Magana guy rottens in hell, he should have fought like a man, not stab him in the back. May Diego RIP and my heart goes out to his family.

It is so sad to realize what the human race has come to. Why can't we live peacefully? Why can't we care for one another, and not take violence as the way out. Sadly this is happening more than it is supposed to.
Racism is a major topic here, when in reality like someone mentioned before, has nothing to do with this. It doesn't matter where you are from, what financial posture you hold within society, what color or language you speak. What matters is that we are all just fighting and killing one another over nothing at all. We are fighting over what country you supposed to be in when in reality there was never bounderies in the world to begin with. This all came to be when common sense was lost and envy starting taking over the human world. I can't change what happended but I will try to change one life in a positive way.

Let my friend rest in peace where one day we will once again meet.. I wanna say to you people sayin that no one wins, the only people that didn't come out winnin was us, wich was his family, friends, and his daughter wich now has to grow up without a father cause of this idiot.. Wow, this story is extremely sad. What else is sad is the ignorant comments regarding illegals.
Neither one of the people involved in the above-mentioned incident is illegal.
Even if these people were illegal, purple, obese, mentally ill etc., it would not matter, a life is a life. Someone is dead and the other persons life is ruined. There are two sets of families affected horrifically.
One of these boys was good friends with my brother. The other boy involved, I knew from work. Both boys seemed like good people who made bad a decision.
It is sad that alcohol and EGOs can equal death. I cant even begin to imagine what everyone is going through in this situation. Both families will be in my prayers. Much respect and love to both families.

They were Loyal since the day I met them & They never changed, they got smarter but they always remained the same at a young age they possessed qualities that most people will never reach in they're lifetime! Diego He set the precedent! He was a leader! He stood up for his beliefs by all means & I would never fault him for that! & I know for a fact that he would fist fight before he would seriously hurt anyone! Edgar killed him like a coward. He was a hater & God has to forgive him for me because I can't & I never will. I mean if you seen Diego's daughters face, how could you tell this innocent beautiful baby that she will never see her dad living again! people can be so ignorant and judge right away!!!! from what my family has told me and what I saw Diego was a caring guy!! he loved his daughter and she loves him very much too! he was an awesome father! thanks to Edgar my niece is going to grow up with out a dad but thank god she'll always have a memory of him just like everyone else!!! for all of u that like to judge, the only one that can do that is god, and if u keep judging people the way u do, god will judge u greatly cause in gods eyes every crime is the same, and judging is a crime to him, we r also all equal in gods eyes nobody is diff or better!!! And to all u that like to talk about illegals lets not forget that this land belonged to Mexico first!!! Its so stupid that ppl bring this up in a situation like this! We should all be coming closer not fight with one another, we have to be strong for Diego's family and support them and not just his family but other families that r loosing young members like him too!!! my heart and prayers go to Diego's family, daughter and friends! To his mother cause there is no pain like when a mother looses a child may god be with u all!!!

you know what really irritates me is how people say both families are suffering, yea both families may be suffering but we will never be able to see our beloved one Diego Solorio again. As for Edgars family they can go visit him, i was reading the comments and never was it said that Edgar left a daughter behind like Diego did. Imagine how hard it was for Diegos daughter to hear that she wasnt goin to be able to see her father ever again!? So Edgar is a COWARD and he got exactly what he deserves and i hope this haunts him for the rest of his life!

I agree with "jessicaaustin" both families are at a loss. I didn't know the man killed, reading from all the comments on here I know that his name is Diego and has a daughter. My deepest condolences go to his family and friends. I've known Edgar since we were kids, his mom has always been a second mother to me. Yes, he has changed alot and has gone thru rough times just like any other human being has; Edgar also has a son who he loves more than anything.
Most people on here write about how stupid he is, I agree with everyone of you on that but you can't always rely on what you hear or read from people who weren't there. Edgar is a U.S. Citizen and I don't know why any of you would bring that up when it has nothing to do with what happend. Both men were drunk and the fight broke out all because of a girl. Diego was being disrespectful and like any other man would do Edgar confronted him about it. Though I know Edgar did not stab Diego and there were multiple people involed how do we know it was Edgar who carried a weapon and not someone else? Regardless of what happend it was immature of both men to act the way they did, and the result being death for one and living death for the other.
First and foremost, may you rest in peace Diegito! You will always be in our hearts. I can still remember the little 9 year old kid with contagious smile and the deepest dimples. Gosh! I'm a sucker for dimples. Irma would always tease you by saying you were my little boyfriend and you would get embarrassed. I was 18 at the time, maybe if I was 10 years younger ;) who knows? That is my memory of you and I thank you for that.
Now, I would like to ask those who made inappropriate comments dealing with race to open their eyes to what is really happening here. A life was taken, it does not matter if they are here legally or not. You are being disrespectful to the family by making idiotic comments that do not even apply to Diego.
For those of you saying the MURDERER Edgar made a mistake, that he was trying to change his life, that it was self-defense, or that he was a good guy. Perhaps I'm biased but please! He knew what he was doing, he carried a lethal weapon and used it, stabbing Diego 3 times. Not just once but 3 times! He wanted to get the job done and had no remorse about it. I feel no pity for a coward act like his. He fought to kill.
In the end time will tell and God will bring justice to all. Now all that is left are broken hearts, a mother in agony calling out for her son Diegito and a distraught daughter, wondering when she will see her daddy again.
