LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
Smoking ban brings tourists back to Vegas
Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009 | 2:01 a.m.
My wife and I had stopped spending our vacations in Nevada years ago because of the prevalence of secondhand cigarette smoke in the restaurants, malls, offices and in several bars that we liked.
Now, because of the smoke-free law in Nevada, we intend to visit more often and will spend more of our hard-earned vacation dollars in Las Vegas. We just returned to Illinois after spending a full week on the Las Vegas Strip and visiting some other great vacation spots in Nevada — and we loved the smoke-free air. What a tremendous change for the better out there!
Every Nevada voter should be proud of your smoke-free law, and supporters need to fight to protect it from the tobacco company lobbyists, pro-tobacco politicians and others who want you, your family, friends and loved ones to go back to being forced to breathe in disgusting and health-harming secondhand smoke.

Why don't you support the smoke free casinos in Illinois? They NEED you. The surrounding states are laughing at the politicians in Illinois as gamblers are flooding the casinos in their states.
Why don't you stay in Illinois? We don't whiners here.
Wow. All the risk taking in Las Vegas (the risk taking capital of the world) and some are concerned about smoking. I am always so surprised by the monopolizing of those who don't smoke, but giving them their due on a couple of things ... it's good not having the smoking on planes and in cozy, small restaurants that have no room for smoking sections, I guess. What my point is, though, is what the letter writer is referring to by cigarette smoke and not pot smoke which apparently also causes cancer and lung disease and is now being legalized in California for tax revenue purposes, and is also prevelant in Las Vegas. Did I get high jogging down Las Vegas Blvd. a few days back? I think so as some cars had their windows down and the exuding fragrances did me in for a few hours! Are the letter writers planning to visit California? It's bewitching to learn that all the different states are deliberating pot issues, too. Comparing the list of obstacles in California to that, say, of the state of Virginia to legalize pot you can easily see the wall of resistance in Virginia. Phil Spector's wall of sound I guess. Holy Cow I'm glad folks can smoke in casinos! Now, when is this paper going to make it easy to submit an op-ed piece without having to submit it in that little 'fill in the box' thing? How about an email address just for that purpose?
There hasn't been smoking in a mall other than the Forum Shops in a decade. No offices have allowed smoking since the 80s. Restaurants have all relegated smokers to back corners since the early 90s. So was your previous visit in 1977?
Quit lying.
And if you aren't lying, you are the small minority. Because the numbers don't lie and they've shown the ban has killed jobs and businesses.
We'll raise our taxes for you, thanks for coming and next time leave more money.
Would one of you dirt sucking losers explain to me why it is necessary to grow tobacco, make cigarettes, get people addicted to nicotine, and cause heart disease, lung disease, stroke, and sexual dysfunction? What do you get out of it other than satisfying an unhealthy oral fixation?
You like to exercise your constitutional freedom to ruin your health, and via second hand smoke, the health of others? Don't you get it? Tell me what good comes from tobacco use?????? I am listening. Thank you.
100IQ...Why are you asking so many questions since you have such a High IQ ?? You're just another Hater from the "Nanny State" who wants to tell people how to live. Being 69 now, you are Irrelovant and don't even Deserve an answer. I'm just glad that us smoker's would Not want to know you so you will Never find out the answer to your questions!
