People stand up for liberty at ‘tea parties’

I am truly amazed and excited that conservatives this week voiced their passion and concern for what they believe to be worth contending for in America today.
Wednesday’s demonstrations were about more than just taxes. They also were aimed at out-of-control government spending and, in many cases, abuses of our liberties. This started during the previous administration and is continuing with the current administration.
There has been change, no doubt. The change has come in the form of increased spending, which will inevitably lead to higher taxation. We’ve gone from a billions deficit to a trillions deficit! Who will suffer? Our children and our grandchildren will suffer most.
I favor the FairTax and less government power. I favor more individual liberty and less governmental oversight and regulation. I believe in reforming America, not remaking America. Long live liberty!

HEY TIM, Your last paragraph says it all but with the Democrats in the majority in congress as well as the white house that,s not going to happen right now, It would leave the Liberals with nothing to do. People just keep amazing me that they think they can get something for nothing. look the bottom line is these, whatever the government can give you they can easily take away, and they don,t have to give you a reason for it. The last thing on are founding fathers minds was SOCIALISM.

Tea Party demonstrations were much broader than a conservative expression. There is a growing movement in this country taking in a broad cross section of the population who is fed up with government spending and intrusion in private lives and interests. This started in the anti terrorism days after 9/11, and is continuing in the intrusive, socialistic agenda fostered by this left wing administration of Barack Obama.

This started Right Now with the raising of the Federal Tobacco Tax...Taxing without Representation! However it is not popular because many are afraid of the Hater Non-Smokers...I saw people with tobacco posters at first but the Media did not show the protesters, and I am very disappointed in Nevadans who said nothing about this! The very first Native Americans [Indians] grew Tobacco leaves as their most prized commodity for their Rituals and religious ceremonies eg[Peace-pipes]. Now O'Bama has taken it upon himself to raise cigarettes So high that the Now taxed Indians' Smokeshops are going out of business on their own reservations so that kids who's parents make TOO MUCH MONEY to qualify them for Medicare can get a Free Ride. No one knows that Nicotinic Acid is Niacin! It's only the Tar in cigarettes Not the Nicotine that hurts anyone, and their are many filters that take all tars out such as Venturi which makes Tar Gard. How much has the Gaming industry paid for air filtration/ventilation systems in Nevada for so-called 2nd hand smoke, another ploy by the Hater non-smokers...See the CATO Gov web page. I am very angry about all of this because the Tea Party is not going to do Any Good for what will happen IN The Future with taxes but the real issue started when the Unlawful raising of the cigarette tax happened one day just on a whim by O'Bama...and No-one even cared or took any notice of it! This is about Tobacco-leaves Today not Tea-leaves. But Mostly about Liberty Where once a person is an ADULT they have the Right to Choose between right or wrong for Themselves. Since when is everything for "the children?"

Look - if people weren't out there participating in hateful speech, I wouldn't be able to make these statements. But they were, and they even smiled as I took pictures of them and their oh so hateful signs.
And that liberal media argument doesn't hold water when you have that right wing hate/propaganda machine called Fox on the air. I would respect them a lot more if they admitted their bias, instead of claiming 'fair and balanced' - wouldn't you? Complain about CNN all you want, but NO ONE can call Lou Dobbs a liberal, nor can they say that about the folks that host Morning Joe on MSNBC.
I don't see any dissenting viewpoints on Fox these days (and no, Combs didn't count, since all he did was let himself get shouted down by Hannity constantly. And now even he's gone). And for the record, I watch a lot of Fox and read sites like redstate, hotair, etc. Why? So I know EXACTLY what my wingnut fellow Americans are going to try and argue today.

Well, it's obvious and sad that all media has a political bias. Truely, I just want the facts, let me make my own decisions. Everyone knows which way their favorite leans. What is saddest however in my opinion is that even if you agree with Hannity, Limbaugh, Mathews, Olberman or who ever, these talking heads need to be pushing so hard for their side to keep their ratings up. They all talk about how much they care for their country, but believe me they care about their bank accounts first. Left in their wake are a citzenship that no longer discusses with each other, they yell at each other and try to crush the others viewpoints.
OK, you agree that Fox isn't 'fair and balanced'. And, I agree that listening to ANY talking head instead of forming your own opinions is silly. Great, that's a start!
Now...how exactly were the people I described above in my previous posts 'helping' the teabagging cause?
They weren't, and people that allowed those folks to mingle and protest WITH them (instead of saying "Hey, that sort of talk makes those of us concerned about wasteful spending look bad") are just as guilty of hurting your movement, and should be ashamed of themselves.

Now, in the spirit of full disclosure I didn't attend a rally, there wasn't one where I live. I am going by what coverage I have seen on both Fox and CNN and local media, (outside of Nevada}. Now I would think at any kind of rally you are going to draw many kinds of people. If the rally in your area had a lot of people acting stupid and rude, that still doesn't diminish what I perceive as the overall message these rallies are trying to get across. I understand and agree with the message that less government is better government.

The person I've supported for President hasn't won in over 12 years so I'm used to not having my choice in the White House. Having said that, I can tell you that I've agreed with President Bush more in the last 8 years than I have with President Obama in the last 100 days. And it's the honeymoon period.
And for the poster who asked about what programs Republicans support to help people....may I remind you that this country was built by people who just wanted an opportunity to help themselves. The role of government is to provide as little interference to that goal as possible.

Getalife: the last 24 hours were spent doing things like going to various stores (grocery, pet, etc) and stimulating the economy by stocking up on supplies for the next couple weeks, then hanging out with the wife on a Saturday doing wholesome, All American things like grilling in the backyard. At night I went to a concert, and to give you a really good laugh - it was an awful 80's hair band show with 2 extremely obscure groups (Pretty Boy Floyd and Britny Fox), but hey, tix were free, and it was about 5 min. away from home. Then I helped stimulate the economy more by buying drinks at said show, and afterwards hanging out with my wife and friends at a nightclub 'til the wee hours of the morning. And boy did my head hurt from the all the vodka/sodas I consumed.
So I woke up and hit the gym to shake it off. Sorry to bum you out, but I can promise you that meth wasn't involved whatsoever. But its nice to see you stereotype libs as 'druggies'. This coming from people that can't even ADMIT what type of hateful rhetoric was being spewed by their fellow teabags at Sunset Park, and certainly don't appreciate being labeled the far right fringe crazy teabaggers that they so obviously are.
And during all that I was able to multi-task and make fun of you teabags from my Blackberry (wait a minute...I thought liberals were the no good, entitlement demanding non producers? Who gave that one a Blackberry??).

I seem to be able to go about mine just fine, and I've been with my wife 9 years or so, so I'm pretty sure the sanctity of our union is hunky dory whether same sex unions happen or not.

PS I've been a huge fan and supporter of comedy since birth. All my friends are comedians in their own right. I'm even a big fan of liberal comedians such as Bill Maher. Even though I disagree with his politics 99.9% of the time, he's still funny as hell. Even if jokes are about things I stand for or believe in I'm not offended at all because funny is funny regardless.

Firedawg - they aren't accustations, they're observations. Which I made after my interactions with people at Sunset Park who weren't concerned with taxes whatsoever, just their fringe issues like being anti immigration, anti gay, anti abortion, pro assault rifle, etc. And that's what the discussion has been about here (regardless of how many pajamas tv links you add that are irrelevent to THIS thread),

Jfinance - not only did I talk to people, but as mentioned in another thread I took PLENTY of photos of them and their anti immigration, gay hating, pro assault rifle loving, wingnut signs. And they smiled happily for my pics. Although it was usually after asking "you're not sending this to the DHS are you?".
And I don't think I claimed there wasn't ANYONE concerned with taxes out there...but they were pretty far and few between, that's for sure! And you can bet your little teabag on the fact that most of THOSE people never cared about overspending or taxes until the conservatives brainwashed...er, infuenced them to be once McCain/Palin went down in flames and Republicans lost all those other seats!

The tea parties were giant jokes. They "protested" high taxes and socialism while requiring a police presence at their taxpayer-funded public parks, both well known and loved socialist programs.
You folks want to be taken seriously? Stop spending millions on these rallies and spend it drafting legislation to repeal Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and the new drug benefit.

Well, here are my observations on why you and others like you are on the opposite side:
Illegal Immigration - More anti-government people for you to manipulate into believing all Republicans are white and racist. You really don't care about these people smirk; you just want them for Democrat votes.
Gay Marriage - Not that gays really care about marriage; it's an attempt to make a mockery of the church that they hate so much. It's just another step to try to take down religion in this country. Civil unions will give them what they need, but it's not really about that now is it.
Pro-abortion - Many reasons here, but I'll speak of two. 1. Most libs are environmentalist and believe the world is over-populated. This is there reasoning to kill babies so that they have more trees to hug. 2. Abortion allows one to not have to take responsibility for raising a child, therefore giving one more reasons to engage in irresponsible sexual activities when one has the option to eliminate the consequences. This behavior is part of a bigger plot that liberals want; the end to the traditional American family.
Right to bare arms - Liberals simply hate the people who own them such as conservatives and military active and veterans. They hate the constitution as well.
