Letter to the editor:

Some facts left out by Fox News critics

Thursday, April 16, 2009 | 2:03 a.m.

I am very appreciative of the debate opportunity your editorial page is offering on Fox News Channel. It is interesting to read the different points of view, pro and con.

However, a few facts were missing from Dan Wesley’s Tuesday letter to the editor, headlined “GOP’s mouthpiece roars to little avail.”

Fact: Fox News is the highest-rated cable news channel on the air.

Fact: Of the top 10 cable news programs, nine are from Fox News.

Fact: Bill O’Reilly has had the highest-rated news program for 100 months.

Fact: Every political discourse is presented from both viewpoints, often to the detriment of conservative or moderate positions.

Other facts were also selectively omitted: MSNBC has been a continuous shill for the liberal viewpoints; Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow have never offered, and often ridiculed, moderate and conservative viewpoints.

NBC news people are now so entrenched in the liberal philosophy trumpeted by their bosses, Jeffrey Immelt and Jeff Zucker, that they can no longer offer an unbiased approach. CBS and ABC are almost as bad in their unflagging loyalty to the liberal agenda. Next time there is a presidential news conference, keep an ear open for the probing questions from their journalists.

Sadly, until the other cable and the network news channels decide to present equal viewpoints in their reporting, this debate will continue to rage on.

  1. HEY GEORGE, YOU ARE 100% RIGHT, msnbc hurts itself more then fox news ever could they have no creditability, most people that disagree with fox news are allowed to say it on fox news live. but you can,t get away with giveing conservative view points on ABC.CBS.NBC.MSNBC.CNN.PBS. They just won,t allow it.

  2. I'm sure you appreciate Jerry Springer also due to his high ratings. Same kind of programming as Hannity.
Enjoy Faux News as Hannity and Beck, (until his complete mental meltdown occurs), continue to divide the country with their delusional tirades.

  3. Go Fox News! The liberals are watching. Great to see that! Great letter.

  4. Joe McCarthy would be proud. Go Faux News!

  5. Does Chris Matthews "leg still tingle" when he talks about Obama?

  6. Watch CNN correspondent without bias and without agenda do a journalistic interview of a protester at a tea party yesterday. You can tell from her tone and words she is just reporting the news.

  7. Honestly, this whole exchange is hysterically funny. It seems to me that whether or not you find a news outlet to be "fair and balanced" hinges on whether or not they speak to your core beliefs. As long as they keep telling you what you want to hear, your fragile little worlds are safe. This demands much less effort than actually listening, researching, and thinking about things, too! How cozy.

  8. Was watching the coverage on these tea parties on Fox yesterday while I was home for lunch. Thought I would see if CNN was covering these stories as well because of letters in yesterday's LVSun op-ed page. I saw this "journalist" live. It was sad to see her proclaim that "make no mistake, this is just a bash Obama rally" while a sign over her left shoulder said in big letters "Republicans suck too!" I just don't understand how companies like CNN and the NY Times are willing to ride their rating declines into bankruptcy to simply go with a political agenda.

  9. "Go Fox News! The liberals are watching."

    I think you are right.

Could be the reason why their ratings are so high.

    I just love it.

    Fox drives them nuts!

  10. so easily the uninformed are brainwashed. people turn faux news off and go into a real world. sorry you lost the election, we had to get over it for 8 years, your time now. take your kids to the park, read to them, do something constructive for yourself. hate is not a what jesus taught.

  11. It's because to conservative Fox News-loving people, simply reporting the news without an angle is considered "liberal bias".

Sure Olbermann and Maddow are for the left. But what you'll notice is they simply present the absurdities of the things they wish to criticize.

To criticize most things coming from the right these days, you really don't have to say much. All you have to do is report the facts.

  12. Olbermann was using the word "teabagging" a lot.

Hmmmmm.....that is a sure sign that the left have no class.

  13. Yes, because one person who subscribes to liberalism said "teabagging," jfNance32 draws the conclusion that "the left" have no class. One could similarly find that jfNance32 has no sense of humor. But it would be dumb to say that "the right" has no sense of humor.

But it's funny that jfNance32 is getting fussy about language. He sure does take offense that anyone would DARE malign his beloved teabagging. Funny stuff!

  14. I guess ksand99 has no class either if he thinks using "teabagging" on national TV to describe 1,000's of Americans is funny.

That confirms my point that many on the left have no class.

  15. LOL, abandoning your original argument, then?

Your point was that "the left" have no class. Now it's just "many?" Retreat! Retreat!

That confirms my point that jfNance32 has no sense of humor.

  16. I guess Ksand99 has no class plus he has a clear reading comprehension problem on top of that.

  17. Retreating from your own words now? That's cowardly...

"Hmmmmm.....that is a sure sign that the left have no class."

After being criticized for that, he sheepishly changes his own words.

"That confirms my point that many on the left have no class."

He still doesn't get that his entire line of reasoning is a giant hasty generalization. Most smart people realized that long ago!

    And, teabagging!

  18. Would ksand99 and his koolaid drinkers be happy if teabagging was used to describe Obama or the Democratic Party?

    Probably not.....

Teabagging is a clear sign of tasteless humour.

Put hey...ksand99 thanks it is a-OK.

ksand99...Can I call your wife or mother a teabagger?

  19. Did Obama participate in the teabagging protests? Nope!

Did my mother? Nope, she's dead. Who's lacking class now? Oh, you are!

I am glad you realized that your generalization that everyone on the left is classless is wrong. I will accept your quick retreat from your own words as an apology.

    Thank you.

  20. JfNance32: http://tinyurl.com/cannab

That is one of the teabagging protestors, holding a sign that uses the language you are so upset with, in the same manner you are upset with.

I will wait for you to draw the same conclusion about republicans for using that language. Obviously it's ok if the protestors themselves think it's ok.

Or are you just going to invoke my dead mother again?

  21. It is wrong for them to do that too.

It is totally classless and tasteless.

A little boy holding up that sign is showing very poor judgement along with his parents.

A leftist national talk show hosts is also showing very poort judgement. No wonder that O'Reilly gets almost 4x's as many watching him than that idiot.

Only idiots, either from the left or the right, would use such gutter language to express their views.

But if the shoe fits...the shoe fits. You have free speech rights.......go ahead and use gutter language to express yourself.

It probably hurts your cause more than it helps.

In a way, you and Oblerman are actually helping the country by being classless and turning people off from leftist's point of views.

I guess I should be thanking you and Olberman.

  22. Oh, so if 1 liberal uses that language, "the left is classless." But if 1 conservative uses that language, it only reflects on that single person. That's a huge double standard, jfNance32.

You were outraged when I said it, but when one of your own does it? No such outrage.

You should at least TRY to hide your double standard.

  23. Your lack of reading skills is not really shocking.

    I am use to it.

  24. Your pitiful critique of my reading comprehension (ironic, coming from you) pales to your poor grammar. Are you going to conjugate that verb?

    Just another double standard...

  25. Duh,,,,,,, uh....me ksand99...I just skip over where jfnance32 calls tax protestors idiots and tasteless for using "teabagging" and I, ksand99, make a statement that jfnance32 does not display outrage for some tax protestors using "teabagging".

I, ksand99...uh...am an excellent reader because I just don't read anything...I make up words in my head and use that instead.

  26. You drew a conclusion about the entire "left" from the words of a single individual.

You did not draw the same conclusion about the "right" from the words of a single individual.

I know you find it hard to admit your double standard, but it's right there in black and white. No one to blame but yourself.
