Letter to the editor:

Cancer clinic closure should shame Vegas

Friday, April 10, 2009 | 2:04 a.m.

For months I have been receiving offers for free lodging, food and shows from various Strip hotels.

After Sunday’s “60 Minutes” segment, “The Recession’s Impact: Closing the Clinic,” why would anyone want to drop money in Las Vegas, a city that condemns cancer patients to death.

If the patients were to commit a crime and be jailed, would they then get the medical treatment they need? If a visitor needs emergency medical treatment, will he be turned away?

It seems that the Strip casinos and Clark County could get the Legislature and University Medical Center to find other ways to solve the budget shortfall. My home state of Florida does the same thing — chop benefits from those least able to fight.

  1. THE BEST SOLUTION TO THE NV BUDGET SHORTFALL.

    Tax Advertising.

If there was a Sales Tax on Advertising it would give
    NV, at least, $300MILLION
    of NEEDED TAX REVENUE.

    Why is the LV media
    not mentioning it?
