A Las Vegas man suspected of driving a stolen vehicle under the influence was arrested in connection with a head-on collision Friday night that left a 16-year-old boy in critical condition.
Metro Police responded at 7:14 p.m. to the crash on Alexander Road west of Rainbow Road. Authorities said the driver of a 2001 Toyota Sequoia, identified as 26-year-old Adam Sylvia, was westbound on Alexander in an eastbound lane when the crash occurred.
The driver of an eastbound 2001 Chevrolet S-10 tried to avoid the crash by applying the brakes, but the two vehicles collided head-on, investigators said.
A passenger in the Chevrolet, a 16-year-old Las Vegas boy whose name wasn't being released because he's a juvenile, was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries, police said. The Chevrolet's driver, Collin Ploch, 26, and another passenger, Joshua Grafton, 18, both of Las Vegas, suffered minor injuries.
Authorities said Sylvia also suffered injuries that were considered minor. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center for possession of a stolen vehicle and three counts of felony DUI causing substantial bodily harm.

It's unfortunate that the drunk driver wasn't crtically injured instead of the innocent victim. I can only hope that the next time Sylvia drives drunk, he gets into a one car accident and the only fatality will be his. I pray that the 16 year old victim survives and recovers fully; if not, Sylvia should receive at least 24 years.
