Spending in Clark County down, but not evenly among industries

Sales of goods and services in Clark County haven’t matched last year’s. They have fallen roughly 1 percent from the previous fiscal year, but the overall slide isn’t spread evenly. Auto dealerships experienced a 10.6 percent drop from 2007’s $4 million in taxable sales, but the accommodations and clothing industries reported higher sales. Sales by specialty trade contractors, responsible for tasks such as pouring concrete and plumbing at construction sites, grew by nearly 30 percent.
