Metro Police are investigating the deaths of a man and a woman found in a residence in the eastern part of the Las Vegas Valley off Hacienda Avenue and Pecos Road about 5:10 p.m. Thursday.

Police detectives said that the pair apparently died of gunshot wounds and that it may be a murder-suicide at a residence in the 3000 block of Casey Drive.

The Clark County coroner's office identified the woman as 36-year-old Maria Albis Sambria-Mendoza of Las Vegas and the man as 40-year-old Jesus J. Gonzalez-Lara of Las Vegas.

The coroner's office said Sambria-Mendoza's death was due to a gunshot wound to the head and involved homicide. The death of Gonzalez-Lara was due to a gunshot wound to the head and it was ruled a suicide.

A teenage son came home and found his mother and father dead, police said. Homicide detectives believe the father shot the mother and then later killed himself.

The police investigation is continuing.
