A woman who was driving with her daughter late Thursday afternoon north on U.S. 95, south of Eastern Avenue, was struck and injured by a heavy piece of metal that came flying out of another vehicle and crashed through her windshield, the Nevada Highway Patrol said today.
The woman was taken to a local hospital. Her daughter was not injured, officers said.
Trooper Kevin Honea said the object that struck the woman's car was about 2 1/2 feet long and 6 inches wide and weighed as much as 30 pounds.
The incident happened about 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The vehicle that dropped the metal debris may have been a red pickup truck, Honea said.
Anyone with information on the crash or the pickup truck is urged to contact Nevada Highway Patrol investigators at 702-432-5205.
