LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
Palin qualified, but not for presidency
Monday, Sept. 22, 2008 | 2:03 a.m.
John McCain’s choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate was the final nail for me in my decision to vote for Barack Obama for president. Although Palin seems like a strong woman who might make an OK vice president, I think her qualifications start and stop at that level.
As John McCain’s health history consists of numerous serious cancer reccurrences, there’s a high probability he will not be able to complete a full term in office, thereby elevating Palin to the office of president.
With two wars raging, terrorism going largely unchallenged, serious economic and climate change issues facing the world and the Russian bear once again rising to military and economic prominence, I don’t see any way she is qualified to be president of the United States.
Let me put it this way: I don’t want the former mayor of Wasilla going toe to toe with the former head of the Russian KGB.

Sarah might just think he cuts a very dashing figure, so you never know what might happen after the drinkies are finished.
So even though it is Obama and McCain running for President, The LV Sun can not seem to find any letters to the editor other than anti-Palin attacks.
When will the LV Sun get on with the issues like the nationalization of the financial sector.
Sorry "future", but what else is there to comment on, perhaps the LV Sun doesnt believe there is a problem with the finances of the USA

With two wars raging, terrorism going largely unchallenged, serious economic and climate change issues facing the world and the Russian bear once again rising to military and economic prominence, I don't see any way Obama is qualified to be president of the United States.
Let me put it this way: I don't want the former state senator going toe to toe with the former head of the Russian KGB.
Surely the presidential candidates are the most important, BUT, McCain has given a new twist in the energy of the guru of the rhetoric otherwise known as Sarah whose real qualifications appear to be those of a back room small town mayor who is also a neighbor in a family that has the has daily problems which are enough to occupy a normal person. Surely, women can pull off a lot of that, but they shouldn't have to. And then there is the matter of her husband's and perhaps her advocacy of withdrawal of Alaska from the lower 48 and outer one. Further, she is blessed as the governor of Alaska - one of the smallest populations in the country (fewer than in most congressman's districts) and coffers that are filled and overflowing with money from 4 buck a gallon gas. Hey, do her a favor - vote for Barack or one of the independents - so she has time to grow up.
Hey, do Obama a favor - vote for McCain - so he has time to grow up.
"Further, she is blessed as the governor of Alaska - one of the smallest populations in the country (fewer than in most congressman's districts)"
Joe Biden, who has never had ANY executive responsibilities, has a population in his district about equivalent to Sarah Palin's State of Alaska. Biden and Palin are running for the same office.
Undoubtedly, Palin would be the better VP.
xxxxxx
Ventura would have the communist-mentored, racist-supported Chicago Machine Politician Obama as POTUS. I bet he and Putin would have a LOT in common, lol!
Wow, still fearing the Reds? It seems here that instead of discussing issues, most people just wish to shout at each other.
In any case, either sides' incendiary rhetoric usually only serves to deepen the commitment of the other side. So...should probably agree to disagree and see what happens in November.
Phil..I'm sorry, I don't believe that you ever planned to vote for McCain..Go sell that story to someone else.
on the topic of health, Phil...both of Baracks parents died young and he smokes. Biden's health suck too..
It is amazing how Obama supporters diminish Sarah Palin by omitting the fact that she is Governor (not Mayor) of Alaska. She also happens to have an approval rating in the 80's, the highest of any Governor in the U.S.
Under Palin, Alaska now has an estimated 5 billion dollar surplus (some say 9 billion). Alaskans each received checks for over two thousand dollars from the surplus.
Palin successfully negotiated a deal for a 1,700 mile natural gas pipeline to the lower 48 states. It was a great achievement.
Sometimes Alaskans call Sarah Palin "Our Margaret Thatcher." Maybe it is because Palin as Commander in Chief of the AK National Guard, was recently faced with a national security crisis from (the above mentioned) Vladimir Putin in the form of his Russian bombers flying close to the Alaskan coast (the Russians were angry over America's recognition of Kosovo). She must have handled the situation skillfully, because the Russians backed off and America was not attacked.
I would say that counts as foreign policy experience.
Last year Palin visited her Guardsmen in Kuwait and stopped at the Landsfuhl military base in Germany to visit the troops.
If you recall, Obama was supposed to visit wounded troops at the hospital there, but decided to go to the gym and do some shopping instead.
Palin was on a list of possible VP picks along with Romney, Pawlenty and Jindal. There were many people promoting her qualifications for months before she was chosen by McCain.
Do not be fooled by the Democrats' attempts to demonize and diminish her. This lady is a talented, patriotic American leader.
60,000 people came out to see Palin in Florida yesterday. She is becoming more popular than Obama.
"Palin was on a list of possible VP picks along with Romney, Pawlenty and Jindal. There were many people promoting her qualifications for months before she was chosen by McCain."
What source do you have for this "Fact"
cmon, I had heard many political pundits mention her name beginning in the spring of 2008.
Here are two stories about it from news archives:
