Driver in morning crash dies

Friday, Sept. 19, 2008 | 4:33 p.m.

A 19-year-old woman, Erika Bauermeister of Las Vegas, died this morning at University Medical Center after a two-vehicle crash on Las Vegas Boulevard, Metro Police said.

A 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by 41-year-old Leslie Lockwood of Redlands, Calif., was traveling northbound on Las Vegas Boulevard, at 2:52 a.m. about 500 feet south of Serene Avenue, when a 2004 Ford Focus driven by Bauermeister crossed the median into the northbound lanes, police said.

The two vehicles hit head-on, throwing both Bauermeister and 21-year-old Jason Lowe of Las Vegas from the Ford. Neither wore seat belts, police said.

The driver of the Jeep, 21-year-old Jason Lowe of Las Vegas, was also taken to UMC, police said. Both Lowe and Lockwood had moderate injuries.

The crash is still under investigation, police said.

  1. Mary, you seem to be a little confused. Three drivers but only two cars? Was Jason Lowe in the Ford or the Jeep? Because you've claimed he was thrown from the Ford while also driving the Jeep.

  2. There were 2 cars, my daughter was driving the Focus, Jaston was a passenger and Leslie was the jeeps driver. Crash is still under investigation.
