LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Palin’s frightening lack of experience

Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008 | 2:09 a.m.

Maureen Dowd, in her column in Thursday’s Las Vegas Sun, made a very appropriate comparison of Gov. Sarah Palin to Eliza Doolittle. Sen. John McCain and the Republican Party are trying to portray her as the complete package and ready to be president, but she is anything but.

Her experience is so thin as to be transparent. She spent her adult life in Wasilla, Alaska (population about 7,000), eventually becoming mayor. In December 2006, less than two years ago, she became governor.

Republicans try to make her lack of experience a virtue by claiming she’s not part of the Washington scene, but how can she lead without knowing the political scene or procedures there? The thought of her meeting with world leaders should send chills down your spine.

  1. Obama's experience is so thin as to be transparent. He has spent most of his adult life in corrupt South Chicago, eventually becoming state senator. For the last 3 years, he has been a part-time US Senator. He did not accomplishment much as either a state or US senator.

Democrats try to make her lack of experience a virtue by claiming he has been running for president for the last 3 years, but how can he lead without making real executive decisions? The thought of him meeting having to make difficult decision should send chills down your spine.

Oh, it does. But it also cracks me up.

  3. People removed from middle America just don't seem to be able to understand. When they sit around in their own circles and discuss things they are sure everyone must agree because all of their friends do. They forget, people in New York City and San Fransisco and other urban inner cities are very different from the rest of the country, and we are the majority.

Palin appeals to people because she represents them. Not necessarily agreeing with all her positions, but overall the person herself. She represents a citizen politician. When you read something ridiculous the government does and you say, "If I could be in charge for just a week, I would fix that place quick". She is that person. She is the one that said, I can do better than the idiot in charge. Then she ran for Governor and proved it.

The American public is in love with her and her folksy way and raw outdoors feel. They love her can do attitude and lack of fear. They love her family, especially because it has its own problems. They see her as REAL. They know what she stands for, because they do too. They also know standing for something doesn't make it always occur, because no matter how they all tried, they had failures too. They like it that she is still trying with all the normal problems. And when people pick on her, like this article, they rally around like someone just picked on their family, because they think she is.

It's going to be a fast finish from here. The Palin love affair cannot wear out in 7 weeks time, and attacking it wont do any good, because the people that have fallen for her, have adopted her, and you are attacking them. The biggest worry the democratic party should have now, is, do they lose the Senate and the Congress as well, the love affair is a real one.

  4. Maureen Dowd, Maureen Dowd, Maureen Dowd.

I hear someone moving their mouth, but what spew is coming out.

Oh, this was last week's trash talk.

    Get on to the issues.

    Even CCN has moved on.

  6. I invite you readers to look on a map and find the place nance keeps referring to. There is no South Chicago. There's the south side of Chicago, and apparently nance is convinced that everyone that lives there is a crook and a swindler. Obama lives in Hyde Park, home of the University of Chicago. Have you ever stopped to think how the people of Chicago think of Las Vegas? Is Las Vegas so pure of political shenannigans and opportunists?

But when I do look at the map, I see that Alaska is on the fringe of our country, not middle-America. Chicago is middle America. Milwaukee, Detroit, St. Louis, that's middle America. And they're starting to care less about Palin's values than how little concern John McCain demonstrated for the seriousness of the office of Vice-President when he picked her in the first place.
