Palin reaches out to Nevada Republicans
Alaska governor greeted with warm welcome

CARSON CITY — Republican Vice Presidential nominee and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin gave a brief speech to an enthusiastic crowd of about 5,000 people here today.
The speech was similar in theme to the one she gave at the Republican National Convention in Minnessota and the ones she has been giving as she has made campaign stops with John McCain since the convention.
Palin reached out to women voters, exhorting the crowd to help her "shatter one more glass ceiling" and help get Sen. John McCain elected president.
She also highlighted John McCain's position as a maverick, and her own record as mayor and governor of Alaska cutting some taxes.
And she touched on energy.
"We're going to drill now to make this country energy independent," she said.
Palin also repeated the line that she told Congress "thanks but no thanks," for the so-called "Bridge to Nowhere," a federally funded project in Alaska that came to symbolize pork projects McCain has long criticized.
Palin initially supported the bridge, and her claim that she killed the project has been largely discredited by the media and nonpartisan groups.
Still, the crowd at the Pony Express Pavilion - where roller hockey is sometimes played, Palin pointed out - seemed to revel in her appearance, greeting her with loud applause and chants of "Sarah, Sarah!"
"It was wonderful," said Lori Klobals, of Douglas County. "She's a gun-totin' wild woman."
Indeed, Republicans seemed energized by her presence. A few weeks ago, many conservatives had expressed reservations about McCain. Since Palin was announced as McCain's vice presidential pick, the campaign says they have seen an exponential increase in Nevadans seeking to volunteer for McCain.
Republican speakers before Palin entered the building asked the crowd to work for McCain and Palin.
"The thought of the other ticket getting in there is just unthinkable," said Nevada U.S. Sen. John Ensign. "It makes a real difference which party governs. Since Democrats took control of the House and Senate, the deficit has doubled in just a year and a half."
He said that he heard people were buying guns because of the Barack Obama and Joe Biden ticket. He said a "better idea" is for people to go out and work to elect McCain and Palin.
Nevada's 2nd Congressional District Rep. Dean Heller said, "don't be fooled. They want to raise your taxes. They want to take your guns. They want you off their land."

I think all party members should be patient before they have their mind set as to whether they should support Sarah or not. Already, a large population is jumping to conclusions that Ms. Sarah is the head of the Republican ticket, we need to get our ducks in a row, and remember, currently, she's a party clone; without freedom. When all these allegations of abuse of authority, vindictiveness, cronyism, exploiting per diem benefits...the list goes on, are investigated and the results exposed, then we might have a different opinion of John.
If I haven't totally lost my mind with all this mudslinging for the #1 position, I think John is still stumping for that job!

Governor Sarah Plain has a record of change and crossing party lines. She has business and executive experience, Commander of a National Guard, Mayor and CEO, City Councilor and a community PTA member, over a 14 year period and unlike Obama she has not snorted cocaine.
No wonder the media, has not completed the vetting of Barack Hussein Obama or asked him leading got you questions, like what qualifies him more to run for President than Governor Sarah Palin? I am hoping that women who were Hillary supporters and are now going to McCain/Palen keep in mind that McCain will most likely have an opportunity, were he to win the election, to appoint more than one Supreme Court justice. If he appoints a strong conservative there is a reasonable chance that the Roe v Wade decision will be overruled and women will loose their right to choose. If they were for Hillary for Hillary’s principles they should now be for Obama. The last thing Hillary wants is for women to loose their right to choose. Don’t let her down.

PeterClarke--After 8 years of business friendly, regulation-cutting, government bailout Republican rule, businesses-even those on Wall Street are failing, and companies are still shipping jobs overseas and getting a tax break to do so. Yes, we should stick with this plan. Add to that, John McSame's new tax on the value of our health insurance (taxpolicycenter.org) and this makes as much sense as his selection of VP.
Sarah Palin, executive experience? Really. As Mayor, she decided to build a hockey rink in town on land the city didn't own. No one bothered to check. She left the town with a pending lawsuit and a $20 million dollar budget deficit. She went from a balanced budget, which is what the last mayor left her, to a huge deficit for any town, but even worse for small Wasilla. Now that's Executive Experience we've seen a lot of these last 8 years.
As Governor, Ms Palin appointed a high school classmate, Franci Havemeister, to be the director of the Alaska State Division of Agriculture, a $95,000 position. A former real estate agent, Ms Havemeister said her childhood love of cows was a qualification for running the $2 million dollar agency. That is Executive Experience we've seen a lot of these last 8 years. Way to Go, Brownie!
We know that she is now under investigation for using her influence to have the supervisor of the state troopers fired, for not firing someone associated with a bad divorce in her family. (a bipartisan investigation into this was started way before her VP nod). So she tried to misuse her position of authority to have a government employee fired. That IS Executive Experience we've seen a lot of these last 8 years.
Meanwhile, while Obama was in the US Senate, he authored 152 bills, and co-sponsored another 427. That includes the Coburn-Obama Govt Transparency Act, and the Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act. Both of which became law. And the "Lugar" part of that bill is Republican Dick Lugar. Do you think Ms Palin knows what any of these are without looking at her index cards?
I think it would be good to pass on Ms Palin's so-called experience, as well as each and every Bush policy McSame continues to support.
Ok, am I the only one here that noticed that Palin was clueless enough to come to a state that has a huge potential economic stake in renewable resources; solar, wind and geothermal AND with the large areas to make industrial scale solar energy practical, right next door to the state that consumes the most energy exactly when the sun is shining the hottest - and she cheerleads for drilling oil in Alaska?
That's dumb.
But it's even dumber to cheer the line, instead of giving her a furry eyebrow and askin' her if she's run that thought past T. Boone Pickins.

I made myself watch her 17 minute speech (I can't stand the sound of her voice, but I braved it!), in which she basically regurgitated the same things she's been programmed to say now for almost 3 weeks. She said nothing new, or different. No, wait, she did say that her husband named their kid Piper after his plane, that I hadn't heard. Everything else was textbook, including the lie about the bridge to nowhere that she keeps on repeating.
At least she pronounced "Nevada" correctly, which sent the audience into a collective fit of mass hysteria.

This particular item is well documented and was one of the main reasons I said I would never vote for Obama. Since then I have seen several other reasons to dislike Obama even more.
Having said that, I can't stand the thought of Palin one day being POTUS should McCain not finish his term.
Therefore I have no choice but to vote Obama. It's not that he's better than McCain (certainly not the McCain of 2000), it's just that Palin is so wrong on so many levels for POTUS.

Funny thing is, if I were to come across GOD or jfnance et. al on the side of the road broke down, I wouldn't think twice to stop and help them out. I could have been sitting right next to one them at the latino comedy show (oh wait, that should be ILLEGAL comedy show, right GOD?) and laughed right alongside with 'em. I could be sitting right next to them at church every Sunday (it's the only place they say they love everyone, but we know their true colors don't we?).
But soon as someone mentions politics the faces change and it's finger-pointing, name-calling, he said-she said, forget all about our friends and family fighting and dying for us around the globe, etc.
