Beyond the Sun

Although the calendar says it's September, Las Vegas will get another dose of mid July heat as temperatures climb well into the triple digits again today, according to the National Weather Service.

This morning's temperatures were starting out in the mid 80s by 9 a.m. But this afternoon, we can expect the high to reach to 104, the weather service says.

The normal maximum temperature for today is 97 degrees, with record high of 108 set in 1977. Saturday's high temperature was 104 degrees.

Today's skies will be sunny, with east to southeast winds between 6 and 9 mph.

Temperatures will fall overnight to a low of 79, but the daytime hotter-than-normal weather will continue through Wednesday, the weather service says.

The forecast calls for Monday's high to reach 102 degrees and Tuesday's high to climb to 100.

Temperatures finally start getting closer to normal for this time of year by Wednesday, when the highs will be 99.
