Bishop Gorman’s defense held an opponent scoreless for the second straight week Sept. 6 as the Gaels traveled to San Francisco and beat Archbishop Riordan High 13-0.
Gorman took a 2-0 lead in the first quarter when defensive end Alex Turner recorded a safety. Gorman had five sacks and two interceptions, one each by Charles Childres and Chaisson Sears.
“Our kids are just extremely well prepared on defense,” Gorman coach Bob Altshuler said.
Gorman’s lone touchdown came in the second quarter when Chase Cresto threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Joe Huber. Colin Ditsworth added a 32-yard field.
“(Huber) at flanker is a threat every time he has the ball in his hands,” Altshuler said.
Gorman had four shutouts last year.
