Seniors get afternoon of entertainment

Friday, Sept. 5, 2008 | 3:38 p.m.

More than 250 homebound seniors from across the valley will be treated to a special show on Sept. 9 at Temple Beth Sholom that will combine singing, dancing and comedy.

Temple Beth Sholom is at 10700 Havenwood Lane, near the intersection of Town Center Drive and Desert Inn Road.

Backstage Revue, a musical comedy troupe, will perform from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. as part of the synagogue’s L’Dor V’Dor — or Generation to Generation — program. Afterward, guests will enjoy a complimentary lunch in the synagogue.

Children from Temple Beth Sholom’s preschool program will also give an introductory performance.

The L’Dor V’Dor program, which is in its seventh year, holds six annual entertainment events for facility-bound seniors throughout Las Vegas, said program coordinator Shel Kolner.

Approximately 25 homes will be participating on Sept. 9, with Temple Beth Sholom providing bus transportation to and from many of those facilities.

“It’s a great opportunity for these seniors to do something different,” Kolner said. “They get to mingle with the kids and see something they don’t often get to see.”
