DMV employee arrested in Las Vegas on federal bribery charges
Fri, Sep 5, 2008 (1:30 p.m.)
A Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles employee, Marilyn D. Millender, 52, of North Las Vegas was arrested today on bribery charges.
Millender is expected to appear before U.S. Magistrate Peggy Leen at 3 p.m., where she will make an initial appearance and be arraigned.
A federal grand jury indicted Millender on charges she solicited and accepted cash in exchange for issuing official Nevada driver's licenses and identification cards to undocumented aliens, said Greg Brower, U.S. Attorney for Nevada.
Millender faces charges of one count of federal program bribery and one count of false statements. During 2007 Millender worked as a licensing clerk at the Nevada DMV branch office at 7170 N. Decatur Blvd. Her duties included issuing Nevada drivers' licenses and state identification cards to the public.
Between June 1 and Dec. 30, 2007, MIllender allegedly solicited and accepted cash payments from Rocio Ryan in exchange for state identification documents.
The indictment alleges that the transactions involved more than $5,000. The indictment also alleges that from about May 14 to June 4, 2008, Millender told FBI agents that she had never received any money from Ryan in connection with performing her official duties when she knew she had.
If convicted, she faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on the bribery charge and up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine on the false statement charge.
In an unrelated case, another former DMV employee, Dalva Flagg, was convicted in August 2004 of conspiracy and bribery charges and was sentenced to 71 months in prison and ordered to pay a $100,000 fine. Flagg admitted that she accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes in exchange for providing unauthorized state identification documents to undocumented aliens.

I was tricked into getting married to an illegal alien from Brazil(DEBORA HELENA DECASTRO-FELTNER) back in 2003 from a church board member(Isabel Graves) who preyed on me because I'm a disabled Veteran who's wheelchair bound 4 life & took advantage of a lonely heart just to get legal! Other illegal aliens told her how to stay in this country by filing FALSE SPOUSAL ABUSE REPORTS AND I ALSO FOUND CLEARLY FALSE STATE I.D.'S IN MY HOME AFTER SEPARATION! WHEN SHE CALLED THE POLICE, SHE'D SHOW A LOT OF SKIN AND THE OFFICER WOULD GIVE & ALSO ASK 4 HER #, KNOWING SHE WAS LEGALLY MARRIED! WHEN INFORMED THAT SHE HAD FALSE GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS, THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT UP WITH THE I.N.S. & LAUGHED(THAT COULD EXPLAIN HOW THE 9/11 TERRORISTS GOT INTO THE COUNTRY!) WHEN I WASN'T HOME SHE BROKE IN AND CLEANED ME OUT WITH THE OFFICER'S HELP!!! JUST CHECK OUT THE HELP WANTED ADS IN THE MEXICAN RUN NEWSPAPERS & SEE HOW THEY HIDE IN OUR COUNTRY VIA ILLEGAL LABOR, MAINLY RICH PARENTS LOOKING FOR A LIVE-IN NANNY WITH NO SPOUSES/BOYFRIENDS! SHE ALSO HAS DOCUMENTS WITH FALSE NAMES SUPPLIED BY HER EMPLOYERS! I WISH THE COURTHOUSE THAT MARRIED US HAD PAID CLOSE ATTENTION TO HER PASSPORT, THEY WOULD HAVE SEEN THAT HER STUDENT VISA HAD EXPIRED WAY BEFORE OUR SHAM OF A MARRIAGE AND MAKE MY UNION NULL & VOID!!! I don't mind aliens who enter and stay in our country legally but when they do it illegally it really gets my goat! Hey Mr. President and all of you fat cat politicians, pull our troops back home and support all of our borders and stop being the world's police force!!! One last comment that you may have seen on t-shirts, bumper stickers, etc., "Welcome to America LEGALLY, NOW LEARN THE LANGUAGE OR GO HOME!!!"
Time to take out the trash at the DMV. Unfortunately, the requirements to obtain ID or driver licenses in Nevada is very, very lax. I know this because I worked there. I do not know the alleged employee as I was stationed at a different location a few years back.
Illegals easily obtain unverifiable documents - false US (most from Texas, California, Florida and especially Louisana - who handed out birth documentations like candy after Katrina) birth certificates - and claim no social security numbers. Bingo! - ID on it's way - easy as that! Take a computer touch-screen test in spanish - bingo! - get an instruction permit. Pass the drive test - bingo! - get a driver license. Sell the license to a new "arrival" - and they can get a "duplicate" with their own picture on it simply by changing the address for $2.75 - why pay all that money to a dishonest DMV employee - when it is so easy just following the above and likely cheaper. In point of fact - this is more often done by “visitors” from European countries - then from our Mexican neighbors - how about that?!?!?! It is actually easier to forge INS or BCIS (now named) documents than US issued birth certificates. It never ceased to amaze me that the old "green card" without an expiration date and a picture taken when the applicant was 12 was better accepted at the DMV than a Nevada birth certificate.
The laws and policies need to be changed - take it from one who knows and could do little about it because of all the ACLU and goody-goody challenges. Marilyn, if guilty, needs to go to prision for a long, long, long time!!!!
