Blimp takes to sky above M Resort

M Resort is taking to the air to advertise its location with the M Lightship — a blimp with an electronic lightsign.

The twin-engine A-170LS video lightship will broadcast live television and streaming video, Web sites and static images using a 70-foot by 30-foot screen.

Beginning this month, the M Lightship and its 2,100-square-foot advertising screen will be visible to thousands of residents and many of the nearly 40 million visitors coming to the city each year.

The blimp is owned by The Lightship Group. The group is the world’s largest airship operator, and is one of only three electronic lightships in the world.

Closures announced on Decatur, ramps

Decatur Boulevard underneath the Las Vegas Beltway in the valley’s southern region will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Sunday, Sept. 7, to Thursday, Sept. 11.

The overnight and early morning closures are necessary to accommodate the widening of the bridge structures on this section of the 215 Beltway.

Also, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, to Tuesday, Sept. 9, the Beltway connector ramps from northbound and southbound Interstate 15 and Las Vegas Boulevard, which all feed into the westbound 215 entrance ramp, will be closed.

The ramp closures are necessary for paving work, which is part of the widening of the westbound 215 ramp.
