LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
Palin in the White House? No way
Mon, Sep 1, 2008 (2:03 a.m.)
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin for vice president? This is either a very bad joke by Sen. John McCain or an early admission that the election is lost.

Wow Margaret Feinblatt and Jules Greenbergis are two more insulted Democrats.
They joins the four selections the LV Sun found yesterday. Democrats who are apparently appalled that Republicans have selected AK Governor Sarah Palin as VP. They are Ellen Sterling, Mark Mikowski, John Sloan, and Joseph Carbone. The LV Sun did finally find a single letter from someone that supported AK Governor Sarah Palin as VP.
Hillary backers are mostly Democrats and support redistribution economics, class warfare, nationalizing of big business, etc. Nobody expects Hillary backers to vote Republicans.
Vote Republican if you believe in Republican values, principles, policies, etc.
Nobody should vote for an individual just because they are a woman, a black, a gay, a mother, etc.
Senator Obama for president? This is either a very bad joke by Democrats or an early admission that they have lost their minds again.
"Redistribution economics," as you call it, is paying taxes for government services. Some countries big on redistribution economics are Japan and many Western and Northern European countries such as Germany, Belgium, and even England. Some countries not big on it are Mexico, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. "Redistribution economics" is not class warfare; but allowing the greedy rich to become greedier and richer by the nanosecond, while so many lack opportunity, is class warfare. I doubt that you are rich, Future. And big business nationalized - and internationalized - itself long ago. Big American businesses care about rich CEO's, not American employees.
Obama offered a tax break to 95% of American taxpayers, because 95% of us are not rich. The Dems have gone too far in the past with rights with no responsibility, but Obama is addressing responsibility. If you have not listened to his acceptance speech, you should.
You're right; nobody should vote for an individual just because he or she is... And what kind of mother is a woman who works as much as this one, anyway? She might be a good managerial mother, keeping the calendar or something, but she sure can't be spending much time with her five children. So why does she even have five children? She doesn't believe in birth control, either?
Incredible choice that shows McCain's "judgment." Great selection - for Democrats.
Lord to God....what a big sexist statement....
You're right; nobody should vote for an individual just because he or she is... And what kind of father is a man who works as much as this one, anyway? He might be a good managerial father, keeping the calendar or something, but he sure can't be spending much time with her two children. So why does he even have two children? He doesn't believe in birth control, either?
I guess the teacher is saying the FEMALE is designated as the primary child care. Strike one blow for feminist across the globe.
Yeah....now Palin's 17 year old is knocked up for real. McCain's VP choice is a family of rabbits. Nice.
It is seems sexism and racism is alive and well in the Democratic party.
They love to make fun of Palin because she is a mother.
They are on the verge of saying females are dumb and stupid by default.
Even their children are becoming targets of slim.
Obama's friends made a ton of sexists remarks about Hillary.
Obama's group painted Bill Clinton as making racist remarks left and right.
Wow....I never thought I would see Democrats doing this crap.
Oh well......everytime they do this stuff it is one step closer for McCain to be president. I see the bright side in everything.
So you're equally outraged at McCain's joke about Chelsea Clinton back in the '90's, right Nance?
You're so hypocritical.
What about McCain's joke about a woman being raped by a gorilla?
Yeah, didn't hear a peep from you about that one.
That's ok, keep on believing that you are morally superior to everyone else.
Yeah...I guess the whole abstinence lecture/thingy didn't stick so well so I'm certain Palin will be just as successful in communicating and enforcing domestic and foreign policy issues too should the need arise.
Good source of information...theBS....you are using some extreme leftwing blog story about their recollection some 20 years ago with zero proof that it ever occur.
I think I can do the same thing....I heard Obama say when he was 12 that all whites have little KKK pillows......what is my source....a radical rightwing blogger who claims to over hear Bob who heard Suzy who heard Joe who heard Sam....etc.....
Tsk...tsk...tsk...that really is digging in dirt to make up dirt.
By Teacher is right we must have a redistribution economy like European countries. Oh and we can not openly call it class warfare.
It is a mistake to call Obama’s acceptance speech just “rhetorical heights”. Obama fully intends to execute redistribution economics.
To meet this end Obama will need to continue to accentuate his fear-mongering of the American economy and private business, where millions of newly “out of work” destitute families are in breadlines in all the major cities, particularly the Southside of Chicago.
It is well known that although 44% of Americans do not pay any Federal Income Taxes, that still leaves 54% of Americans, who make less than the “Filthy Rich” (individuals making more than $200K) paying Federal Income Taxes (FIT on your W-2).
This is a great Country and the idea that we make the poorest 98% of Americans actually pay for the national defense, common good, and generally welfare of themselves is appalling and just plain wrong.
This is the Democrats Transcendental Moment. Obama’ goal of redistribution economics where only the 2% of Americans who are “Filthy Rich” have to pay taxes is the kind of issue that is raising the level of political discourse.
Obama is addressing personal responsibility, it may be that everyone could be mandated to perform 40 hours of community service each year.
Don’t let those fat cat Republicans give you that shared sacrifice fear-mongering, now is the time to mobile and take the country back.
Oh Nance, read it and weep:
http://www.rumromanismrebellion.net/imag...
There's a PDF of the original story about the rape joke, from the Tuscon Citizen... October 27, 1986.
But of course, you won't admit you were wrong.
Want to choke on some more proof?
"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?" he asked guests at a Senate Republican fundraiser. "Because her father is Janet Reno."
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/070...
He even apologized for that: "In 1999, in the course of apologizing for his joke about Clinton — which he called "insensitive and stupid and cruel" — he recalled for reporters another bad joke: 'I said, 'The nice thing about Alzheimer's is you get to hide your own Easter eggs.'" (Earlier in the 2008 campaign season, he reworked that joke to make himself the target.)"
So your candidate likes to joke about raping women and make fun of children. You must be SO PROUD.
You attack Democrats and excuse McCain's misogyny? Hypocrite.
That Rumromanismrebellion.net PDF is a big joke.
In the story, it admits that it can not confirm its own sources. I guess you equate journalism to gossip and rumors.
"You attack Democrats and excuse McCain's misogyny? Hypocrite."
So I guess that you are taking the high ground.
You are condemning all the worthless postings making fun of Palin's motherhood and her children.
I've been in transition so I haven't visited these blogs in a week. I can't believe people are talking about 10 and 20 year old jokes. Is that where we are with this? Of all the serious issues this country faces today we're talkin' about old jokes? Can we please fast forward to the present???
Hey, Nance made it fair game when he ignorantly criticized ALL Democrats as being sexist and racist.
LOL, we're SO racist we nominated the first African-American in U.S. History. Meanwhile, the Republicans get around to throwing a token woman on the ticket only 20 years after the Dems did. Let's keep in mind that Hillary gave Obama quite a run for the nomination. But yeah, we're all sexist and racist, according to Nance.
You could say I'm taking the high ground, Nance... which means your worthless and baseless hypocritical rhetoric is... from the gutter.
Still nothing about McCain's sexist joke about Chelsea? You were so outraged just a few hours ago about people asking about Palin and her daughter's pregnancy, but no words of condemnation for your own candidate?
Call it "Nance's Double Standard."
Thank you theBS for condemning the Democrats' sexist and racist remarks.
I tip my hat to you.
You are taking the high ground.
Although, all your sources are other liberal blogs. You have not quote a news source that has a solid source. That photo copy of newsstory said in it that no sources were confirmed.
So keep up quoting other liberal bloggers as hard news....LOL
Keep on showing your utter ignorance.
Here's another link, from 1998, when he said the joke.
http://www.salon.com/news/1998/06/25news...
"When McCain subsequently apologized to President Clinton, the Washington Post, in its personality section, noted the apology but said the joke "was too vicious to print."
"The Los Angeles Times, in its Life & Style section, provided an oblique rendering of the joke that did not fully convey its ugliness. When Maureen Dowd penned a column in the New York Times about the joke, she wrote that McCain "is so revered by the press that his disgusting jape was largely nudged under the rug." But Dowd chose not to relay the joke, either."
"The joke did appear in McCain's hometown paper, the Arizona Republic, and the Associated Press did report the joke in full, so everyone in the press had access to McCain's words. But by censoring themselves, the Post, the Times and others helped McCain deflect flak and preserved his status as a Republican presidential contender. "
So the Washington Post, LA Times, Dowd and the NYT, the Arizona Republic, the AP are all wrong?
Hypocrite.
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.ht...
There's Dowd's column from 1998. But to you, you'll still dismiss it as a fantasy.
What a double standard.
I guess you did not see in bold letters on top of the article that says "OPINION".
This is not a hard news story.
It is opinion by a very bias source, Dowd, who frequently spouts anti-republican hatred.
David Corn is also not a news man. He is also an opinionated editorial writer. He is another person that spouts out anti-republican hatred.
Would you want me to use Rush as a news source?
The reason why you wil not find a hard news source is because there is none. All these stories are based on gossip and rumours.
Yes, you will this crap on blogs or in opinion pieces or on some gossip page.
I do not trust David Corn. He is playing with words. Those news articles he talked where stories about a rumour of a McCain's jokes but all of them said there were no hard sources to back up the rumours.
Again....bloggers and opinion pieces are not hard news stories.
David Corn and Dowd are left wing nuts who would print anything under the sun to make a point.
Find an actually AP or LA Times or NY Times new story (not on the gossip column or in opinion pages) that say McCain said the Chelsa joke and they have confirmed sources to back up it.
.....waiting.....waiting.....waiting.....
Question: If he didn't say the joke, why hasn't the NYT printed a retraction?
LOL, you're selective outrage is stunning.
First, you can not produce the supposely NY Times article.
I have seen articles like it. They talk about the the rumours of McCain's jokes and how none of them are backup by any real soures.
Can you find a NY Times article that says the Chelsa joked is backed by sources?
I am talking about an actual NY Times news article not an Opinion piece by Dowd.
It is rare that they force a retraction for opinion pieces especially when they deal with public figures.
If McCain did say it then it should be condemn.
If he did say it then it was over 10 years ago and according to Dowd he supposely apologized for it.
Just as much as all this crap about Palin and Palin's family should be condemn.
Nance, why didn't McCain sue for defamation of character if it isn't true? I think it's hilarious that you're selectively choosing which reporters/columnists to believe and which to deny.
It's mind blowing.
Backpedal, backpedal... lol!
When are people going to get it right - the nomination is of the first BI-RACIAL. Why do some persist in ignoring the mans mother, who just happens to be WHITE?????????
Ron Paul and Sarah Palin seems to be the only true Conservative running for anything. That's why I'm voting for her via McCain. In another four years, hopefully she'll be President. Enough of the Democrats and RINO Republicans policies we've been suffering from for too many years!
Nance, You are incredible! Are you really old enough to vote? You don't sound like it. I first voted in 1952--for Eisenhower. You had to be 21 in those days. And it was the last time I ever voted for a Republican. After college and law school I realized the vast differences between the 2 parties. One is for the rich and those lusting for wealth; the other is for everyone else. Do you honestly think those people have your interests at heart? How do you benefit from the Iraq war? Do you own oil stocks? How about an insurance company? Boeing? A piece of Whitewater? Or maybe you have an HMO in your portfolio?
With regard to your Right To Life opinion, get real! What do you know of the agony a woman goes through while having to decide whether to abort a baby? Do you think YOU have the right to make that decision for her? I don't, unless you were the one who made her pregnant.
In choosing Palin, McCain made an impulsive and obvious attempt to win the Clinton supporters. He had only met her once before. She's a pretty face but her background and inconsistencies make her a totally inappropriate choice for VP. He's an old man with cancer issues. The thought of her as heir to the White House is incredible!
This is one Clinton supporter who will do all I can to see that it never happens.
She's got more executive experience than Obama. She's got more morals and would make a great president. Hopefully we'll see it happen.
He's a pretty face but his background and inconsistencies make him a totally inappropriate choice for president.
Mikeymoores libruls have been frothing at the mouth since Mc Cain chose Governor Palin as his running mate. She does'nt look so tough to me. I wonder why their freaking out so bad.
From DickMorris.com
The Palin pick also aims straight at Obama’s biggest problem: his difficulty in attracting the votes of women over 40. To win in November, a Democrat needs to win this group by a wide margin - yet Obama now trails by four points.
Palin also makes it far harder to paint a McCain administration as a third term for Bush - yet the “Bush-McCain” charge lies at the core of Obama’s campaign.
