Casino MonteLago opens new meeting room
Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008 | midnight
Casino MonteLago at Lake Las Vegas has opened a new meeting room that will seat as many as 100 people for receptions, shows and other small gatherings.
Chris Eissler, Casino MonteLago's director of operations, envisions the new Portofino room as an ideal place for wedding and cocktail parties. It will also double as an entertainment venue, hosting its first night of comedy Nov. 26.
The room provides 1,100 square feet of meeting space.
Eissler said the casino in the past has fielded requests from patrons and adjacent hotels for space, but was unable to accommodate them.
"We no longer have to turn away business," he said.
A grand opening was held Oct. 24 to showcase Portofino and its Tuscan-themed painted murals and cathedral ceiling.
"Lake Las Vegas needs a place for entertainment in the offseason, for karaoke, magic shows, things like that," Eissler said. "I think it will bring in a lot of people and provide something for people to do that live here."
