Early voting ends Friday
Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008 | 4:37 p.m.
So far, more than a third of Clark County's 815,077 voters have already cast ballots for the Nov. 4 general election.
And if you'd like to join them in voting early, you can do so at any early voting site in the county or at your designated polling place on Election Day, which is Tuesday.
Early voting continues through Friday at 22 locations in the county, Lomax swaid. The locations are also listed on sample ballots and on the Election Department Web site.
During the last two weeks, 309,741 people have either voted early or cast mail ballots.
"And we expect to see more people vote in this election that ever before," said Larry Lomax, the county's registrar of voters.
Lomax said that Clark County has offered early voting since 1996. Since 2000, more people have voted early or by mail than on Election Day, he said. In 2004, more than 271,000 people voted early.
Lomas is expecting 320,000 to 330,000 ballots to be cast during early voting, a number that will probably be reached today if this week's voting trends continue. He's expecting an 80 percent total turnout, which, including those who vote on Election Day, would be about 640,000 voters.
