Wynn accepting reservations for Encore in Vegas
Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008 | 10:28 a.m.
Wynn Resorts has started to accept room reservations for its $2.3 billion Encore resort on the Las Vegas Strip.
The 2,034-room hotel expected to open Dec. 22 is next to the Wynn Las Vegas. The hotel began accepting reservations Monday for Jan. 12, 2009, and beyond.
Room rates start at $229 per night. The average room price in Las Vegas was $107 in August.
A Wynn spokeswoman says the resort is waiting to receive certificates of occupancy for the rooms, but expects them to be issued well before guests start arriving. Wynn spokeswoman Jennifer Dunne says the hotel will book earlier dates once Clark County issues the certificates.
Encore is expected to include five restaurants, 11 retail stores, seven bars and a nightclub.

And in January the average room rate will be $60
New Years Eve should have about 30 people.
If I was spending that much money for a room I'd never leave it. I'd want to get my 'money's worth' for sure. That will, in turn, affect the gaming end of the trip because all the money I would have spent in the casino is now staying upstairs with me in my over-priced room. Too bad the casino execs. just don't seem to get it. Give people a nice room at a reasonable rate so they won't feel obligated to spend their whole vacation in it just to justify the cost...then they'll go down to your casino and spend some bucks..........
Nah! You should visit the Strip once in a while. It's busy. High end rooms, like these, will sell out quickly, and January is a banner month for Vegas.
Try actually booking a room on the strip sometime. It's easy to find this stuff out. Example - Planet Hollywood offers lots of suites at $300 plus a night, except that they are typically sold out. Esp on the weekends, like always.
Go Vegas! No place like it anywhere!
Yep - the rooms sell out and then there's nothing left to gamble with. Nobody's arguing that the rooms don't sell - the issue is that the gaming revenue is way down - maybe others have the same idea - stay put in your high priced room so you can get your money's worth out of it. Heck- why even leave to go eat - just call room service !!
I love the way Steve Wynn continues to keep his chin UP...I hope he's not wrong. This is a BIG gamble in these times
He can afford it. I wouldn't lose any sleep if his big gamble doesn't pan out - there's always mroe $$ where that came from.
