A 40-year-old Las Vegas man has been arrested on one count of felony homicide by child abuse, Metro Police said today.
Metro's Crimes Against Youth and Family Bureau investigated the death of a 2-year-old boy on Aug. 11 at local hospital.
The boy was brought into the hospital in "extreme medical distress" from his home, police said.
The boy and his family had relocated to the United States from Nigeria in December of 2007 and were living in the home of their local sponsor, Victor Fakoya and his family.
The boy was under the care of Fakoya on Aug. 8 and during that time suffered injuries consistent with child abuse, police investigators said.
A warrant was issued on Friday for Fakoya and he was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
