LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Democrats are ones looking out for us

Monday, Oct. 27, 2008 | 2:02 a.m.

Every four years a Republican presidential candidate tries to convince average Americans that he is interested in their future. Unfortunately for the Republicans, history doesn’t back up their claims.

Social Security and Medicare were passed by the Democrats with little Republican support. It was the Democrats who passed the GI bill, giving veterans a chance for education and housing. It was President Truman who integrated our military, and Lyndon Johnson who signed the Civil Rights Act, giving minorities a chance to participate in our democracy.

At every step, Democrats have worked to meet the needs of Americans: to provide health insurance for poor children (vetoed by President Bush), to aid our schools, and to help our children get college educations.

Yet it seems many of the people who enjoy these benefits quickly forget the party that gave them these aids and buy into the Republican claims. Let’s recognize the assistance that many of us enjoy, and vote accordingly.

  1. We watched the democrats protect us when republicans tried to reform Fannie Mae and stop loans with no down payments and no income checks. They called it racist and said there were no problems at Fannie. Watch Barrack Obama on video blame the problems on WHITE people that don't want taxes paid for inner cities. This was before he was running for President and tell his Agenda as he sounds like Rev. Wright.

  2. They can't cover up this one. The tape has been found. Listen to Barrack Obama in 2001 tell public radio he wants to Redistribute the Wealth. Sounds just like Hugo Chavez or Reverend Wright.

  3. The tapes have been found! They can't cover this up! McCain's supporters sound worse that Reverend Wright!

I like where the lady calmly and intelligently screams about how Obama "caused 9/11!".

Neiman, you keep some good company here. If by good you mean "stupid" and if by company you mean "people I would send back to school".

  4. The Dems Libs have been pushing for banks to lower their lending standards for years so that more minorities can get into homes.

That was a major part in financial meltdown.

Barack "Sub-Prime" Obama is number two on getting cash from the crooked Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac organizations. He accomplished that feat in only 3 years of being a US Senator. Also, he had one of the ex-CEO's of those crooked organizations be in-charge of his VP selection committee before resigning for 'reasons'. The other ex-CEO of one of those crooked organizations gave the Obama campaign some economic advice.

Here is an article praising Clinton on busting open the sub-prime market for minorities to own homes. It was written in 1999 with this scary prediction: "argues that a higher target would only produce more loan defaults by pressuring banks to accept unsafe borrowers."

    http://articles.latimes.com/1999/may/31/......

Below is part of McCain's speech in 2005 on the Senate floor. Too bad, they did not listen to him.

"For years I have been concerned about the regulatory structure that governs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac--known as Government-sponsored entities or GSEs--and the sheer magnitude of these companies and the role they play in the housing market."

"I join as a cosponsor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190, to underscore my support for quick passage of GSE regulatory reform legislation. If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole."

Very good article on the topic:

  5. Shadows of Ronald Reagan? Voters are becoming increasingly concerned about McCain's apparent Alzheimers like symptoms. Typical progression rates would mean an incompetent president in McCain's first term.

  6. "You have missed, in every single post, that the Alzheimers suggestion was my way of having fun with you."

    Your words to me, yesterday.

Neither of your own "youtube" links back you up.

    Liberals = liars!

  7. "Liberals = liars!"

Would that be like you repeating Ashley "The Carver" Todd's race-baiting lie about being attacked by an Obama supporter, and then defending her when John correctly asserted it was made up?

Or are you secretly a liberal now, Makz?

    Nance, stop spamming.

  8. Six hours of believing, then disowning a liar - or a month in hiding because you ARE a liar?

I'll take the six hours - AND being the reason for your month in hiding!

    You lose again.

    "the bs" = stop lying!

  9. "I'll take the six hours - AND being the reason for your month in hiding!"

    LOL, can't count either, now?

That makes my absence two weeks, not a month. That's just another one of your lies, easily debunked.

"A single - liberal - angry - political party goose-stepping to the "change" they promise - goons attacking physically their opponents (attacking (R) campaign offices, property , attacking girls at ATMs and carving a "B" on their faces after seeing a Mccain sticker) the politics of destruction, lies and spin replace serving "The People" = the modern-day Liberal Socialist Democrat Party."

    That's a quote from NVMakz.

That's a quote from NVMakz where he repeats a fallacy, a race-baiting lie.

That's a quote in which NVMakz believed the word of a mentally disturbed McCain volunteer and repeated her words without evidence or proof.

Your suppositions, NVMakz, are based on proven lies. You fell for an easily debunked lie from a delusional college kid. No amount of personal attacks, rationalizing your self-deception or homophobic vitriol will change that.

  10. THANKS FOR VOTING: http://www.johnmccain.com

Title: "Straight Talk From Fred Thompson"

Thompson: You got a few minutes?

It's time for those of us who are concerned about our nation's future to focus on what's at stake in this year's elections.

This is a time of great challenge for our country. We know that somewhere in the world our worst enemies either have, or are trying to get their hands on, the most dangerous weapons known to man. Small rogue nations are developing nuclear weapons and threatening our allies. Large nations are engaged in massive military buildups.

At home we are girding for the possible onset of a recession. If this wasn't America, I might be worried. But very soon we will go to the polls and set a path that will determine how we respond to these challenges.

It'll be a decision that we'll make not only for ourselves but very possibly for generations to come.

John McCain's entire life has been devoted to defending those principles that made our country great. His life has been one of duty, honor, dedication, sacrifice.

He's been involved in every major domestic and foreign policy issue for three decades and has fought to reform Washington in ways that would change our country for the better.

Responsible change is the essence of conservatism. We must change in order to preserve what's best about our country. We've always been able to accommodate constructive change without turning our back on our first principles.

    We must do it again.

However, that does not include staking everything upon the eloquence and inexperience of one who has towed the extreme liberal and partisan line his entire political life, as much as he tries to blur that fact now.

This is the choice that we have in this election. Let's hope that for our nation's sake that we choose well.

    Thank you.
    Fred Thompson

Media Bias Report and Action Committee Support.

The media's coverage of the 2008 Presidential candidates
is recklessly skewed. Left unchecked and unchallenged, it
    could taint the election process!

The Media Research Center just released a 7-month
study of morning news shows and found the networks
are giving nearly twice as much airtime to Democratic
candidates. Even worse, these segments actively promoted
    the liberal agenda.

In other words, the networks aren't even trying to
    hide their bias!

I have just signed a national petition launched by the
Media Research Center demanding balance in 2008 election
coverage, and am urging you to do the same by
    clicking here: http://www.mrcaction.org/506/petition.as...

  11. "Your words to me, yesterday."

What's your point? Your arguments about Obama are no different. Your inferences about his character are every bit on the same level.

I said McCain exhibits Alzheimers like symptoms. That seems like a fair thing to say from what I've seen you post. Why is it fair for you righties to take inferences as truth but not okay for liberals to do exactly the same thing? Seems like a pretty clear double standard to me.

"Neither of your own youtube links back you up."

Sure they do. Have you ever seen the initial symptoms? They are pretty clear in these videos. The guy struggles to maintain what he's talking about and wavers like he can't remember what he said just a few moments before.

Prove you did not make those from "rural Asia" = or from wherever I ran you out of here to! Perhaps you sent you to your room for a month AFTER too many of MY spankings.

Another "the bs" obfuscation = debunked!

    xxx
Six hours of Ashley Todd; or a month in hiding from your own lying embarassments?

You have become SO, SO easy! Where did even your imaginary your "game" go??

You have become Mr. Pete N. Repeat! Nickname: "Lying Parrot".

  13. "What's your point?"

    You're a hypocrite!

  14. "Prove you did not make those from "rural Asia" = or from wherever I ran you out of here to! Perhaps you sent you to your room for a month AFTER too many of MY spankings."

LOL, vapid exaggeration of two weeks into a month? What's next, are you going to deny the definition of a month? LOL!

Two weeks? Not a month. Another Makz lie exposed!

Man, your buttons are SO EASY to push. It's entirely obvious that the Ashley Todd saga, which you repeated and defended, has sent you off the deep end.

You need a Xanax, my friend.

  15. Actually, a Republican lobbying group helped kill Chuck Hagel's bill.

"Freddie Mac secretly paid a Republican consulting firm $2 million to kill legislation that would have regulated and trimmed the mortgage finance giant and its sister company, Fannie Mae, three years before the government took control to prevent their collapse."

"In the cross hairs of the campaign carried out by DCI of Washington were Republican senators and a regulatory overhaul bill sponsored by Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb. DCI's chief executive is Doug Goodyear, whom John McCain's campaign later hired to manage the GOP convention in September."

"Freddie Mac's payments to DCI began shortly after the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee sent Hagel's bill to the then GOP-run Senate on July 28, 2005. All GOP members of the committee supported it; all Democrats opposed it."

"In the midst of DCI's yearlong effort, Hagel and 25 other Republican senators pleaded unsuccessfully with Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., to allow a vote."

"If effective regulatory reform legislation ... is not enacted this year, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system and the economy as a whole," the senators wrote in a letter that proved prescient."

"Unknown to the senators, DCI was undermining support for the bill in a campaign targeting 17 Republican senators in 13 states, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press. The states and the senators targeted changed over time, but always stayed on the Republican side."

"In the end, there was not enough Republican support for Hagel's bill to warrant bringing it up for a vote because Democrats also opposed it and the votes of some would be needed for passage. The measure died at the end of the 109th Congress."

Bill Frist killed your bill, NVMakz, and a lobbyist who was PAID to kill that bill is now an employee of McCain's campaign.

  16. Haha, I posted this on the wrong page. Sorry guys!

  17. No proof? Your production of dozens of posts per week to two in a month?

Were you hiding with Dick Cheney in some "undisclosed location", LOL!!

Hiding for a month has made you soft and movable, not rested.

Six hours of Ashley Todd = or a month in hiding from ME; after S.190's lies were exposed = "the bs's" landing zone, under the bus.

Did it take you a month to extricate yourself from under the bus??

LOL, LOL, IT DID. I EITHER so firmly planted you under the bus - you either HID OUT there FOR A MONTH from the debunking of your lies (S.190), or couldn't get out because you were wedged there HARD. LOL, LOL, LOL....

Which scenario is true? Tell me, and I'll believe the opposite, lol!

  18. Just a question here, but can't you only get thrown under the bus by a "friendly". Isn't that the nature of the phrase?

  19. "No proof? Your production of dozens of posts per week to two in a month?"

Why are you so easy to debunk? In the past 30 days, I've made nearly 60 posts. Wait, I thought you said I hadn't posted in a month, now it's that I haven't posted ENOUGH in a month?

What a pathetic and transparent attempt to move the goalposts, I'd say!

But then, when all you've got is a debunked lie, moving the goalposts is all Makz can do.

  20. LOL, NVMakz, a hallmark of a losing argument is when you constantly reframe it. First you said he hadn't posted in a month, but when you were proven wrong, now it's he hasn't posted "enough" in a month?

Your eerie personal vendetta against thebs is really frightening. Your becoming one of those creepy cyberstalkers!

    LOL!

  21. totally ksand. In any case, what of thebs absense. Maybe there was something going on for him personally, maybe there was a nice cruise in the Bahamas with no wifi. Maybe he was a part of some extraordinary rendition to Egypt where he was tortured for a couple weeks before being planted back here. Maybe it was the hospital. Maybe life was just too damn busy to go on here.

In sum, who cares? Only a total Napoleon would consider it as a personal victory for himself, that he somehow shamed someone off the boards for a little bit. Seriously look at the stylin over dialin story, the last comment he made said, "I set the agenda on these boards." Basically that we are all working in his little fiefdom.

  22. Well, we saw with the way we all laughed him off the boards on Friday, NVMakz is all ego, no substance.

Maybe he should carve an E into his face, for EGO!

  23. "LOL, NVMakz, a hallmark of a losing argument is when you constantly reframe it. First you said he hadn't posted in a month, but when you were proven wrong, now it's he hasn't posted "enough" in a month?

Your eerie personal vendetta against thebs is really frightening. Your becoming one of those creepy cyberstalkers!

    LOL!

Thanks for ALL YOUR HELP debunking "the bs" over in the "corporate treachery" thread. You provided the icing on the cake. Thanks again!

THAT means SO much more than hollow nit-picking around the circumstances of "the bs's" fleeing this board thanks to me.

  24. I didn't debunk thebs. In fact, I proved you wrong. Go read my subsequent post.

You don't even know the author of the bill you're talking about. Stop declaring victory when it's obvious you are only declaring your ignorance of facts. LOL!

  25. "Well, we saw with the way we all laughed him off the boards on Friday, NVMakz is all ego, no substance.

Maybe he should carve an E into his face, for EGO!"

After my last post above - and the help you gave me SO freely over in the "corporate treachery" thread = - how's your ego now?

  26. Haha, not fast enough, there, NVMakz.

You've already been proved wrong on that other thread, before you came over here and declared victory.

    HAHAHAHAHA!

  27. Thanks for your help. Feel free to deny it to yourself, but thanks again!

  28. Social Security and Medicare are about to crap out and democrats are pretending there isn't a problem.

Democrats are only looking after those that can get them elected.

    Same with Republicans.

So long as they can keep getting elected they'll be happy to spend money on their corporate friends and pay unions big bucks...even if that means minorities stay disenfranchised, the poor remain impoverished, the unemployed can't find work, and education never improves.

  29. Hmmm. First NVMakz believes, repeats and defends the words of an admitted liar, now he's claiming victory when he's obviously been defeated? Is this newspeak?

You claim victory but won't link to the page where you were victorious? Wonder why that is?

    http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2008/oct...

You were schooled on a bill you knew nothing about. You didn't even know that Richard Shelby had removed Hagel's text. Whoops!

Your weird obsession with thebs and, as ferret pointed out, Napoleon Complex have come to a head. What's wrong, don't have the word of a crazed self-mutilator to fall back on?

LOL! Oh, and indicted Senator Ted Stevens was found guilty. Another Republican crook, off to jail!
    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/100...

  30. Senator Stevens is a crook, he's a big government Washington politician who is in bed with everyone - so good.

But you don't think there isn't a single Democrat who is a crook in Washington?

  31. Nope, I fully understand that both parties have plenty of issues/crooks in their midst. Any one who tries to spin it or say otherwise is either very ideologically naive or is outright lying.

  32. "But you don't think there isn't a single Democrat who is a crook in Washington?"

    Am I that naive? No.

Thankful for the free Senate seat? Yes.

  33. "democrats are ones looking out for us"
Sheep among wolves. democrat versus republican is purely difference of policies.
If you believe anyone in government is going to look out for you, you are naive.
Our government has become the very thing our founding fathers did not want.
It is funny because they specifically did not want a 2 party system. I believe that as a U.S. citizen it is our responsibilty to hold our government officials accountable. we worry way too much and argue about who's team is better.
    redferret your comment is perfect.
I am actually more concerned about our media reporting accurate, balanced info. where has the journalism gone? everything is delivered with tilt, very little is delivered from a true investigative standpoint. I think we are all losing no matter who gets elected.
"democrats are ones looking out for us"
    don't you want more facts?
