Cal-Nevada Transport owners arrested for embezzlement

Monday, Oct. 27, 2008 | 5:21 p.m.

Randall Bondy and Daiana Azpilcueta, owners and operators of Cal-Nevada Transport and Tow, Inc. of Carson City, have been arrested on embezzlement charges, Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto said today.

Multiple felony counts of embezzlement theft of vehicles involuntarily towed were filed in Carson City Justice Court, Masto said.

The charges carry a potential penalty of up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine on each felony count.

The complaints allege that Bondy and Azpilcueta refused to release vehicles to their owners. One victim in the case is Avis Budget Car Rentals, which had one of its stolen rental cars towed by Cal-Nevada Transport and Tow.

Anyone who has had a vehicle involuntarily towed by Cal-Nevada Transport and Tow, and found that the company will not return the vehicle after payment of towing fees, should contact the Nevada Attorney General's Office in Carson City at (775) 684-1180.

To report deceptive trade practices over the Internet, go to the attorney general's Web site at ag.state.nv.us to file an online complaint. The telephone number for the attorney general's Bureau of Consumer Protection is (775) 684-1180 in northern Nevada or 486-3194 in Southern Nevada.
