LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
Religious freedom a bedrock U.S. principle
Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008 | 2:02 a.m.
John McCain stated that America was created as a Christian nation. That statement alone disqualifies him from being president.
A belief that America was created as a Christian nation will destroy the fabric of America and pit one religion against every other religion and turn Americans against each other. Even if you are a member of the Christian majority, that statement must cause you to vote for Obama.
Even if Obama were to attempt to raise taxes or to take any other action you don’t approve of, in four years you could vote him out of office.

The last time I looked it wasn't America that started a religious jihad.
"The last time I looked it wasn't America that started a religious jihad."
Operation Ajax. Nuff said.
You've got to be kidding. Plenty of Christians feel superior to people who aren't Christian, and they like it that way. It's the co-opting of the Christian right by the Republican party that has brought this country to the brink of disaster. They have brought millions of single-issue voters in by vowing to reverse abortion rights laws, thereby becoming enabled to pursue their real agenda: committing economic warfare on all but the rich. If you think for a moment that many Christians believe in separation of church and state, you must be either very young or very naive, with a rude awakening coming.
The Christian coalition doesn't give a rats butt about economics.
And economic warfare is wealth redistribution.
If you want equality, fairness and a system that reduces poverty and increases wealth, we need free trade, limited government and low taxes.
All our system does is shuffle wealth from poor to rich. That is how socialism works in practice. Socialists just hope people care more about doing the right thing rather than seeing positive results.
And no, you don't get disqualified for saying this is a Christian nation.
Seperation of Church and state was created to protect against that kind of thinking. You can't outlaw someone's participation in society because of their religious beliefs. Period.
Modern Seperation of Church and state thinkers are mostly atheist and agnostic bigots, not logical rational thinkers.
