Willa Caldwell

Willa A. Caldwell, 97, of Boulder City, died Oct. 15.

The 67-year resident was born Nov. 16, 1910, in Grand Junction, Colo., to Calvin S. Harris and Mary Mae Morrison Harris. She grew up in Price, Utah, and married John "Jack" Eccles Caldwell on May 26, 1932, in Castle Dale, Utah. She and her family moved to Boulder City in January 1941. Caldwell was a homemaker and active in the Order of the Eastern Star, having held many offices. She was also active in the Daughters of the Nile.

Caldwell is survived by her sons John Calvin Caldwell of Las Vegas and James Brent Caldwell and his wife, Sue, of Boulder City; daughter Shirley Ann Oakes and her husband, Gary, of Kaneohe, Hawaii; and nieces, nephews and many friends.

Caldwell was preceded in death by her husband after 64 years of marriage.

Services were held Oct. 21 at the Fifth Street chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Henderson.

Gwen Stout Chubbs, 82, of Boulder City, died Oct. 15.

She was born Feb. 18, 1926, in Hinckley, Utah. Stout was a retired medical records technician and a member of the Oasis Park Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a gifted singer, singing solos and in choirs throughout her life. She had perfect pitch even though she never acquired the skill of reading the music note. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing on softball teams and won titles in competitive bowling.

Chubbs is survived by her daughters Gayle Murry of Logandale and Wendy Perkins of Boulder City; sons Allen Chubbs of North Las Vegas and Bob Chubbs of Valencia, Calif.; sisters Rosie White of Sacramento and Belva Mauchley of West Point, Utah; brothers Cardon Stout of Beaumont, Texas, Nathan Stout of Henderson and Philip Stout of Sacramento; 12 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 20 with interment at Boulder City Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Henderson.

Bernard Feld

Bernard "Bernie" Joseph Feld, 82, of Boulder City, died Oct. 20 after a battle with cancer.

The longtime resident was born, Nov. 19, 1925, in Philadelphia. He was the youngest of four children born to Anna and Lewis Feld. His Masonic career started in 1960 when he was raised to the degree of Master Mason following in the footsteps of his father, uncles and brothers Aaron and Bob. Feld was a member of the Eastern Star, as was his mother and his late wife, Peggy, who was a past Matron of Daylite Chapter member in Las Vegas. Feld was elected as Master of Silver Lodge 51 and affiliated with Boulder City Lodge 37. He was a member of the Las Vegas Scottish Rite 32 Degree and a charter member of the Zelzha Shrine and the Zelzha Shrine Club. He had been a life member of the Disabled American Veterans since 1946 after he was seriously injured while serving in the Combat Engineers U.S. Army. He had followed his brothers into the service during World War II. Feld retired from his career in law enforcement as a police investigator and statistician after 23 years of service.

In 1995, Feld's wife of 38 years, Peggy, died of cancer. He met his longtime companion, Virginia Dyson, the widow of Albert Dyson, while volunteering at the Boulder City Senior Center.

He is survived by Dyson, of Boulder City; brother, Robert; two sister in-laws; and numerous nieces and nephews.

At his request, no services will be held. Burial will be at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Ottis Reynolds

Ottis M. Reynolds, 83, of Boulder City, died Oct. 8.

The 30-year resident was born July 27, 1925, in Detroit, Texas. He was a retired utility equipment operator and a member of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II.

Reynolds is survived by his wife Bea Reynolds of Boulder City; daughter Debbie Collins of Kingman, Ariz.; son Bob Reynolds of Boulder City; brother Floyd Reynolds of Colorado; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 13 and 14.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Henderson.

Toby Weinfurter

Toby John Weinfurter, 35, of Boulder City, died Oct. 15.

The four-year resident was born Sept. 16, 1973, in Arlington Heights, Ill. He was the owner and manager of a successful heating and cooling business and had lived in Las Vegas for two years before moving to Boulder City.

Weinfurter is survived by his wife of four years, Sandra Weinfurter ,of Boulder City; parents Alfred and Linda Weinfurter of Island Lake, Ill.; brothers Jacob, Matt and Nicholas Weinfurter, all of Island Lake; and grandparents Joseph and Joyce Paweleck of Rolling Meadows, Ill.

Services were held Oct. 22 in Rolling Meadows. Burial was at St. Michael's Cemetery in Palatine, Ill.

Arragements were handled by Boulder City Family Mortuary.
