McCain, Palin stoop to name-calling

It’s good to see that Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin have finally endorsed the good old Republican tradition — if you can’t beat your opponent on the issues, switch to a smear campaign.
This time, both McCain and Palin have stooped to name calling, the latest being “socialist.” They tried their innuendo strategy, attempting to connect Obama with a 1960s activist William Ayers, who co-founded the Weathermen) when Obama was eight years old. Ayers subsequently became a professor at a university and Obama served with him on the boards of several nonprofit organizations. The American public saw through this smear attempt for what it was, so now a new approach is needed, thus the “socialist” label.
Why can’t McCain and his running mate stick to the issues? Answer: It’s not the Republican way. They are doing their best to distract the voters from the issues of the day and instead spread fear, uncertainty and doubt — the good old Republican way.
It appears that the voters are too smart to fall for it this time. Let’s hope so.

Obama says that what we need to do is recognize that your retirement contributions to the Social
Security and Medicare Trust Funds (payroll Tax) should be given back.
This has the net effect of reducing your SS and Medicare contribution dollar for dollar up to $1000.
Since the retirement Trust Fund money and the general fund is combined, this has the direct result of reducing the retirement Trust Funds.
Spread over a year, welfare check will provide a 20 year old worker $1.37 per day, and a family of four where both parents work will get $2.75 per day. Homeless people will get their money thorough the local community organizer. This money will allow you to buy a happy meal everyday for the rest of your life.
For David Adams the best part about this is that the top 5% of the rich people will have to pay for this. Each day a rich person will be buying a happy meal for 20 poor and middle class people.
Isn't Obama's happy meal wealth redistribution economics wonderful?
This annual bribe is enough for most to vote for Barack Obama and all Democrats. Change you can believe in.
Just remember that this transfer of wealth does not produce a single job.
Why is it name calling? The economic plan outlined by Obama is exactly socialism. Take from the rich and give to the poor. This is the same program Hugo Chavez has championed in Venezuela and Castro still promotes in Cuba. It's not name calling". Obama promised ACORN a seat on his transition team so they could help shape the new administration before it starts. We are in danger of losing everything we have fought for these last 200 years. Obama has already voted for the Nationalizing of the banking system, with the $700 billion bailout.

Obama, Reid and Pelosi have trashed the energy companies for not doing what they want done. It is a simple matter for the Federal government to take over and build large solar power plants, and Wind farms. That is what the next $300 billion infarstructure bill could do.

I don't see how making the wealthy pay their fair share could be viewed as "socialism". The tax increase for those making $250,000+ a year goes from 36% to 39%, all of 3%. So I guess that paying 36% is capitalism, while paying 39% is "socialism"?

Bush was presented with 15+/- years of liberal undermining of the home-mortgage debt markets (kicked into gear during the OTHER book-cooker's Administration, Clinton) and CAUSED a massive credit crisis - even after his Administration shouted warnings and demands for reform of the FMs SEVENTEEN TIMES - to have either filibusters threatened or the majority liberals just ignore his warnings and keeping the bad debt flowing. LIBERAL social engineering and abandonment of financial principles (one should be able to afford the loan they are taking out) to Socialist principles (doesn't matter what their finances are, the DESERVE a home, blah, blah).

The reason the GOP has resorted to name calling is because they have no positive issues to run on. None. Nada. The economy is in the dumper. The stock market is in the tank. Real estate values are in the dumper. People can't sell their homes because of limited financing. Gas prices are high. Jobs are scarce. People are so sick of how the GOP has run this country the last 8 years that whatever McCain & Palin say goes in one ear right out the other. We are all sick of the GOP bullsh*t.
All this socialism talk from our resident right-wing talking point mouthpieces is quite ironic considering recent events regarding our economic meltodown. We had to result to socialism to bail us out of runaway capitalism (which is currently being rewritten as somehow the government's fault - big bad government strikes again!). Obama and William Ayers, Weather Underground leader, have been friends since 1987. Obama and Ayers worked together at The Developing Communities Project, at The Woods Fund, at the Joyce Foundation, and at The Annenberg Challenge. Ayers is responsible for at least 12 bombings including the Pentagon, The Capital Building, and NYC Police Headquarters.
In 2001 Obama wrote a glowing review of Ayers's book Fugitive Days. According to Obama they have talked on the phone and exchanged e-mails up to the time he announced his plans to run for President.

Ahem, for all of you namecallers, the "redistribution of wealth" is just a rollback of the tax cuts that Bush gave to the wealthy and a return to the tax structure in effect during most of the Clinton-Gore years -- you know, the ones where we ran a surplus and grew the economy drastically. I don't recall anyone claiming that that prosperity was "socialistic". Why are all of you Republicans carrying the water for the rich folks? I hope they at least have the courtesy to pass along to you a "thanks, suckers".
