A fight between California visitors and workers on the Las Vegas Strip turned deadly Sunday morning, Metro Police said today.

Officers were called about 12:01 a.m. Sunday to the Hawaiian Tropic Zone at 3367 Las Vegas Blvd. S., in Planet Hollywood, police said.

When police arrived they found that a man had been stabbed and was lying on the sidewalk. Emergency medical crews took him to University Medical Center's trauma unit, where he died, police said.

Homicide detectives discovered that a fight had broken out, and after an investigation arrested 20-year-old Desiray Ortiz of La Verne, Calif. Ortiz has been booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of murder with a deadly weapon, police said.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the Metro Police homicide section at 828-3521. Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555. A cash reward may be available to those furnishing police with information.
