Teachers hit by pellet gun

Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008 | 1:35 a.m.

Two teachers at B. Mahlon Brown Junior High School were shot with pellet guns Wednesday around 4 p.m. after being caught in the crossfire of a game of cops and robbers, police said.

Clark County School District Police Lt. Ken Young said four individuals, including two students, were arrested and charged with possession of a dangerous weapon on school property. Two were charged with battery on a school district employee.

Young said the teachers suffered no injuries and required no medical attention.

The incident occurred when teachers were supervising about 30 students during after-school activities outside.

"Things got out of hand and two teachers were struck by the pellets," Young said. "There was no plot to go out and shoot teachers or anything like that."

Two of the individuals arrested were 17-year-old non-students, who Young said were in the area. The others taken into custody were an 11-year-old and 12-year-old student.

Police recovered two pellet guns.

Brown officials referred inquiries to school police.
