FLASHPOINT:
Don’t vote. At least not yet.
Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008 | 2:01 a.m.
So early voting starts today and I once again put up my biennial STOP sign. Wait until Election Day, folks. Don’t treat voting like a throwaway chore that needs to be dispensed with. Do you know enough about the candidates — for instance, how many names on the judicial ballot do you recognize? And don’t you want to watch the local debates next week? And what if something happens between now and Election Day? What if we find out Barack Obama really is a Muslim? Or that John McCain is some kind of Manchurian candidate? OK, those last two are facetious. But you get my point. There is no need to rush. Wait until two weeks from Tuesday and celebrate and venerate the most precious right you have. Is anyone listening?

I am listening Jon. And I am still meeting the candidates and watching the debates.
I strongly urge my fellow voters to abstain from voting if they don't know the candidate they are voting for. These people are elected to represent you, don't let them use your name in vain.
I totally agree. Jon, you complete me.
Any smart candidate and media outlet will have produced their October surprise, before early voting.
Jon if you have a surprise please get it out.
As soon as I vote the candidates will stop calling my house.
Except for those who do not care to be informed before voting, you should have made your decision.
Jon I know, you know, who you are voting for --so get it over with; and leave it to that 5 or 10 percent of people who do not know what to do for dinner tonight.
Most of these campaigns have been going on for months, if not a year.
What do you think we will see in the last couple of weeks?
Nothing to change my mind.
Yeah barring something radical happening either way like an undisclosed affair or some other huge national event, most people know whom they'll vote for.
There is that NYT article that rehashs Cindy's life.
Most people have known who they are voting for long ago. And barring something like the death of a candidate, those folks are going to vote that way no matter what. Heck, bHo could come out and say he is the anti-Christ and a certain demographic would still overwhelmingly vote for him.
Most people won't take the time to properly vet a candidate and rely way to much on what the media tells them.
It is abundantly clear that the media is in the tank for bHo. So a proper vetting by the media on him is obviously out of the question. And we have reporters making up stuff about McCain (ie, fake story about right wing nut jobs screaming 'kill him' and 'terrorist' at a McCain rally).
So what are you supposed to do. I go and read news stories about the candidates BEFORE they were candidates and research how the voted on certain bills. It's time consuming but it is the presidency after all.
