Michael Barkin

Micahel E. Barkin, 62, of Las Vegas, died Oct. 7.

He was born July 22, 1946, in the Bronx, N.Y.

Barkin is survived by his wife, Sharon Barkin of Las Vegas; and daughter, Dina Diaz of Las Vegas.

A visitation and graveside service was held Oct. 10.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne.

Cheri Barona

Cheri H. M. Barona, 23, of Las Vegas, died Oct. 4.

The two-year resident was born Jan. 5, 1985, in Honolulu. She worked in the restaraunt industry.

Barona is survived by her daughter, Daysha Barona of Hawaii; son, Daniel Barona of Texas; mother, Christeve Lung of Las Vegas; and father, Albert Barona of Waianae, Hawaii.

Services were held Oct. 11 at Meadow Fellowship Foursqaure Church.

Mark Blackmon

Mark V. Blackmon, 47, of Las Vegas, died Oct. 9.

The five-year resident was born Feb. 18, 1961, in Corsicana, Texas. He was a real estate loan officer and member of Shadow Hills Baptist Church.

Blackmon is survived by his daughter, Bailey Blackmon of Las Vegas; mother, Helen Blackmon of Las Vegas; brother, Ricky Scott Blackmon and wife, Laurie, of San Diego; and nephew, Patrick Blackmon of San Diego.

Services were held Oct. 15 at Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne.

Raymarie Brown

Raymarie Brown, 61, of Las Vegas, died Oct. 8.

The 22-year resident was born Oct. 3, 1947, in Greasewood, Ariz.

Brown grew up in Morenci, Ariz., and attended the University of Arizona and the College of Southern Nevada. She was a nurse at Sunrise Hospital and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Brown is survived by her daughter, Tasha K. Brown of Las Vegas; son, Garrick Brown of Las Vegas; grandson, Nathaniel Brown of Las Vegas; brothers Fred Morgan of Thatcher, Ariz., Raymond Morgan of Fremont, Calif., Jimmy Todacheeny of Las Vegas, Guy Todacheeny Jr. of Phoenix, Jamas Todacheeny of Window Rock, Ariz., and Jones Todacheeny of Yuma, Ariz.; and sisters Wanda Ross of Chinle, Ariz., Dinah Todacheeny of Window Rock, and Charlotte Tsosie of Kayenta, Ariz.

Services were held Oct. 13 at Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne and Oct. 14 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne.

Robert Cary

Robert "Bob" Cary, 72, of Las Vegas, died Oct. 6.

The 10-year resident was born Feb. 8, 1936, in St. Louis. He was a member of the U.S. Army and served in the Vietman War. He retired at the rank of Sergeant First Class.

Cary is survived by his wife, Eiko Cary of Las Vegas; daughter, Judy Cary of South Carolina; son, Bill Cary of San Francisco; brothers Mike and Mark Cary, both of South Carolina; sister, Pamela Arizona of North Carolina; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be private.

Gerald Doran

Gerald V. Doran, 83, of Las Vegas, died Oct. 10.

The 53-year resident was born July 10, 1925, in Duluth, Minn. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II and the Korean War. He retired at the rank of chief petty officer. Following his military service, Doran was a senior radiation scientist at the Nevada Test Site. He then went to work at the Environmental Protection Agency.

Doran was a recognized radiation expert and was part of the initial response team to Three Mile Island incident. He received the EPA's highest honor, a Gold Medal for his public health efforts. He also received Bronze Medals and Special Achievement Awards.

Doran is survived by his wife of 37 years, Meta H. Doran of Las Vegas; daughter, Linda Doran and husband, Doug, of Ogden, Utah; sons Patrick Doran and wife, Mary, of Minden, Vincent Doran of Sacramento, and Rick Doran of Las Vegas; stepsons Dr. Joe Armel of Mill Valley, Calif., and Marc Armel of Las Vegas; grandchildren Kandle, Jason, Smokey, Anthony and Sarah Doran and Chrystal, Riely and Andrew Doran; stepgrandchildren Dr. Rebecca Armel and Joshua Armel; and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will take place at noon Oct. 17 at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Gerald Dotson

Gerald Dean Dotson, 76, of Las Vegas, died Oct. 12.

The 47-year resident was born May 25, 1932, in Jamestown, Kan. He was a delivery truck driver.

Dotson is survived by his daughters Mary Jo Catherine Ristow of Bloomington, Minn., Kathleen Ray Paulson of New Ulm, Minn., Shelley Renee Mason of Las Vegas and Diane Denise Baird of Las Vegas; sons Randy Allen Dotson of Hutchinson, Minn., Kevin Lee Dotson of Park Rapids, Minn., Cory Robert Dotson of Owatonna, Minn., and James William Dotson of Okalahoma City; stepson, Daniel James Darland of Las Vegas; stepdaughter, Cheryl Lynn Noble of North Las Vegas; 25 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 15 at Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne and Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne.

Jeanne Olds

Jeanne Beverly Olds, 78, of Las Vegas, died Oct. 9.

The 20-year resident was born Jan. 11, 1930, in Chicago. She was a homemaker.

Olds is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Wannberg of Chatsworth, Calif.; son, Brady Lee Olds of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Services were private.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne.

John Onstot Sr.

John H. Onstot Sr., 86, of Las Vegas, died Oct. 7.

The 19-year resident was born Nov. 3, 1921, in Sioux City, Iowa. He was a retired insurance salesman, a member of the American Legion and the Merchant Marines, serving during World War II.

Onstot is survived by his daughter, Joyce A. Weber of Las Vegas; sons Robert T. Onstot of Las Vegas and John H. Onstot Jr. of Citrus Heights, Calif.; sister, Virginia Sullivan of Walnut Creek, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Oct. 10 at the Lamb of God Lutheran Church.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne.

Lorie Wallace

Lorie Wallace, 53, of Pahrump, died Oct. 7.

The lifelong resident was born March 3, 1955. She was a retired bartender.

Wallace is survived by her husband, Daniel E. Wallace of Las Vegas; companion, Tony Boland of Las Vegas; daughter, Leslie Gehring of Las Vegas; grandsons Wacey Gehring, Colton Raitt and Eric D. Stephens, all of Las Vegas; grandaughter, Betty Jane Ellen Gehring of Las Vegas; sisters Sherry Newman of Las Vegas, Pamela Gonzales of Pahrump and Mary Teresa Wells of Henderson; and grandmother, Mary Shedd of Reno.

A memorial service was held Oct. 10 at Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne.
