KNPR relaunches service for Southern Nevada nonprofits
Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008 | midnight
Nevada Public Radio, KNPR 88.9, has relaunched Community Connections, a public service announcement project that works to create awareness of nonprofit organizations in Southern Nevada.
The project combines on-air broadcasts with Web-based information to let audience members know how they can help with the needs of the community. Changes to the project include the addition of full-length news features from producer Janice Baker profiling people and organizations. The focus for the remainder of this year will be the impact of the economic downturn.
The station’s Web site, www.knpr.org, now includes a Community Connections link where listeners can search a database of nonprofit organizations seeking volunteers. The database includes everything from social service needs to arts and cultural projects as well as wish lists for goods, services and donations.
Nearly 50 nonprofit organizations in the area are participating in the program.
Organizations interested in participating in the program must follow the steps listed at www.knpr.org.
For more information about the program call, 258-9895.
